Full job description

About Us

Jones and Son Pest Control Supplies Ltd is an independent, family-run business that has been manufacturing the Defender Bird Spike range since 1997. We design, make and supply bird control products to both domestic and trade customers, including pest controllers, roofers and solar panel installers. We’re proud of our reputation for excellent customer service and the long-term relationships we’ve built with our customers over the years.

Innovation is at the heart of what we do. While everyone has their own specific role, we work closely together as a team, regularly overlapping to make sure we’re delivering the best possible service — particularly when it comes to bringing new products to the industry. Our newest product, the Defender Jaws, is a great example: a quick and easy installation method for preventing pigeons from nesting under solar panels, offering trade customers a genuine alternative to clips, glue or mesh that hasn’t been seen on the market before.

We love getting together as a team to bounce around new ideas, and we’re always striving to create the next big thing in bird control.

Job Purpose

This role is the first point of contact for both trade and non-trade customers, handling enquiries and processing orders by phone, email and live chat. Alongside this, the post-holder will run sales projects through our CRM system, working to secure deals and chase up outstanding quotes. This is a varied, fast-paced role within a small, close-knit team, where no two days are the same — we’re looking for someone who can bring energy and good humour to the office, and who will engage fully in our team meetings; while informal in style, these play an important part in how we work together.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the first point of contact for trade and non-trade customers via telephone, email and live chat, providing a consistently high level of customer service
  • Build and maintain positive customer relationships, acting as a key point of contact throughout the sales cycle
  • Identify prospects, understand customer needs, and present products and services clearly and confidently
  • Carry out pricing and cost calculations for customers in real time over the phone, demonstrating strong numerical accuracy
  • Prepare and follow up proposals, quotations and cost calculations, negotiating pricing and terms in line with company guidelines
  • Accurately process orders and payments across telephone, email and website channels, ensuring customer and order details are correct
  • Prepare customer-facing documentation, including order confirmations, quotations and invoices
  • Support order fulfilment by processing returns and coordinating deliveries with logistics teams and external partners
  • Run sales projects using the CRM, proactively identifying opportunities, securing deals and chasing outstanding quotes, while maintaining detailed and accurate lead and customer records
  • Work towards individual and team sales targets, reporting on activity and progress to your manager
  • Collaborate with colleagues and internal teams on product, technical and office-related queries, and provide cover for the Sales Development Manager during absences
  • Provide additional support to your manager, the Director and the social media team as and when needed
  • Contribute to a positive, collaborative team environment, including active participation in team meetings
