Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Solar Installer to join our renewable energy team. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing solar photovoltaic systems on residential, commercial, and industrial sites. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to sustainable energy solutions while developing technical expertise in the solar industry. The position involves working both independently and as part of a team to ensure efficient and safe installation processes.

Duties

  • Prepare installation sites by assessing the location, ensuring safety, and setting up necessary scaffolding or equipment.
  • Use hand tools and power tools to assemble mounting systems, electrical components, and solar panels according to technical specifications.
  • Operate heavy machinery such as excavators where required for site preparation or foundation work.
  • Perform welding tasks when necessary for secure mounting or structural modifications.
  • Connect electrical wiring, inverters, and other system components following electrical codes and safety standards.
  • Conduct system testing to verify proper operation and troubleshoot any issues during installation.
  • Maintain a clean and organised work environment, adhering to health and safety regulations at all times.
  • Collaborate with project managers, electricians, and other tradespeople to ensure timely project completion.

Requirements

  • Proven experience with hand tools, power tools, welding, and mechanical assembly.
  • Mechanical knowledge with an understanding of electrical systems is highly desirable.
  • Experience operating excavators or similar machinery is advantageous but not essential.
  • Electrical experience or background in electrical installation is preferred.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and lift heavy equipment safely.
  • Strong organisational skills with attention to detail and safety compliance.
  • Valid UK driving licence is preferred for site access; willingness to travel between sites is necessary.
