Location: On the road, site visits and office-based work
Job Type: Full-time, PAYE
Additional Benefits: Company vehicle or mileage/fuel allowance — TBC

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Solar PV & Battery Storage Surveyor to join our growing renewable energy team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with strong surveying experience, a technical understanding of solar PV and battery storage systems, and a basic electrical understanding. You will play a key role in assessing customer sites, identifying installation requirements, and providing accurate survey information to support high-quality solar and battery projects.

The role is varied and hands-on, involving regular site visits, customer interaction, technical assessments, and office-based reporting. You will work closely with our design, project management and installation teams to ensure every project is properly assessed before installation.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Carrying out detailed site surveys for solar PV and battery energy storage system installations.
  • Visiting domestic and/or commercial customer sites to assess installation suitability.
  • Assessing roof type, condition, pitch, orientation, shading, access and structural suitability.
  • Identifying suitable locations for solar panels, inverters, batteries, isolators, meters, cable routes and associated equipment.
  • Reviewing existing electrical supplies, consumer units, distribution boards, earthing arrangements and available installation space.
  • Checking that proposed equipment locations and installation methods are suitable and in line with relevant safety regulations.
  • Taking accurate site measurements, photographs and survey notes.
  • Identifying installation challenges, access issues, risks or additional works required.
  • Communicating professionally with customers during site visits.
  • Preparing clear and accurate survey information for designers, project managers and installation teams.
  • Supporting technical proposals, installation plans and project documentation.
  • Ensuring all survey work is completed accurately and in line with company procedures.

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate will have previous experience carrying out site surveys for solar PV, battery storage or related electrical/renewable energy projects. You should be confident attending sites independently, gathering accurate technical information and identifying practical installation requirements.

You’ll need:

  • Previous experience in site surveying, ideally within solar PV, battery storage, renewables or electrical installations.
  • Good technical knowledge of solar PV systems, including panels, mounting systems, inverters, generation equipment and cable routes.
  • Good understanding of battery energy storage systems, including battery location, inverter compatibility, safety regulations and installation requirements.
  • Basic electrical understanding, including consumer units, distribution boards, isolators, earthing, metering and cable routing.
  • Ability to identify potential installation issues before work begins.
  • Good understanding of site safety, access requirements and relevant safety regulations.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Confident customer-facing communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage site visits efficiently.
  • Confidence using mobile devices, survey forms, photographs and reporting tools.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Desirable but Not Essential

  • Experience in domestic and/or commercial solar PV installations.
  • Electrical background or previous experience working with electricians or installers.
  • Knowledge of MCS standards, DNO requirements, G98/G99 applications and battery storage installation guidance.
  • Working at height awareness.
  • Health and safety training.
  • Solar PV or electrical qualifications.

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary of £36,000 – £45,000 per year, depending on experience.
  • Full PAYE employment.
  • Company pension scheme.
  • Paid annual leave.
  • Statutory sick pay.
  • Holiday pay.
  • Employer National Insurance contributions.
  • Workplace benefits and employment protections in line with PAYE employment.
  • Company vehicle or mileage/fuel allowance — to be confirmed.
  • Varied role across site visits, customer surveys and office-based technical work.
  • Opportunity to work in the fast-growing renewable energy sector.
  • Supportive team environment with experienced design, project and installation teams.
  • Involvement in high-quality solar PV and battery storage projects.
  • Long-term career opportunity within a growing business.

About You

You will be technically minded, organised and confident working with customers on site. You’ll enjoy problem-solving, have a keen eye for detail and be able to communicate technical information clearly to both customers and internal teams.

This role would suit someone with experience as a Solar Surveyor, PV Surveyor, Battery Storage Surveyor, Renewable Energy Surveyor, Electrical Surveyor, Solar Installer, PV Installer, Electrical Improver or Technical Site Surveyor who is looking to develop their career in the solar and battery storage industry.

If you have experience surveying solar PV, battery storage or electrical installation projects and want to be part of a growing renewable energy company, we’d love to hear from you.
