Diamond Green Energy is a family-run renewable energy company specialising in solar PV, battery storage and associated renewable technologies.

As our installation pipeline continues to grow, we are looking for an experienced Solar PV Surveyor to join our team on a flexible, part-time, self-employed basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for an established solar professional looking for additional income, flexible working arrangements and the potential to earn additional commission through sales and system upgrades.

We are looking for someone who already understands the solar industry, is confident using OpenSolar and can independently manage the survey process from initial assessment through to signed proposal and installation handover.

The Role

You will be responsible for carrying out residential solar PV and battery storage surveys, ensuring proposed systems are technically suitable, commercially accurate and ready for installation.

You will work closely with our sales and operations teams, taking ownership of the survey process and ensuring all necessary information is accurately recorded. For smaller or straightforward installations, video surveys may be permitted, subject to project suitability and company requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct residential solar PV and battery storage surveys, both on-site and remotely where appropriate.
• Assess roof suitability, electrical infrastructure, cable routes, equipment locations and installation requirements.
• Review, amend and finalise existing OpenSolar designs and proposals following surveys.
• Ensure proposed equipment and system specifications are technically appropriate and meet customer requirements.
• Identify opportunities to enhance proposed installations through additional battery capacity, backup gateways, EV chargers and other upgrades.
• Present updated proposals to customers, answer technical questions and obtain signed customer contracts.
• Update our CRM with completed survey information, signed proposals and an accurate Bill of Materials (BOM).
• Identify potential installation challenges and communicate these clearly to our operations team.
• Ensure each project is accurately documented and ready for a smooth transition to installation.
• Maintain professional communication with customers throughout the survey and proposal process.

Commission & Earning Potential

We offer a straightforward, performance-based commission structure with several opportunities to increase your earnings.

Survey Commission

• £100 per surveyed project that successfully progresses to installation.
• We aim to provide 2–3 survey appointments per working day, subject to availability.
• No fixed salary or guaranteed minimum number of installations.

Additional Sales Commission

• Earn an additional 3% commission on qualifying installations where you personally generate the lead and successfully secure the sale.
• The additional 3% is not payable on installations sold by our office sales team.
• With our average installation value of approximately £12,000, a personally generated and sold project could earn £460 in combined survey and sales commission, before any additional product commissions.

Product Upgrades & Additional Commission

Surveyors can also earn additional commission by identifying and successfully selling equipment upgrades, including:

• Additional battery storage capacity.
• Backup gateways and whole-home backup solutions.
• EV charging equipment.
• Other eligible solar and renewable energy products or upgrades.

These additional commissions reward surveyors who recognise opportunities to improve a customer's installation and increase the overall system value.

Actual earnings will depend on the number of surveys progressing to installation, personally generated and completed sales, and additional product commissions. All earnings are performance-based and are not guaranteed.

Essential Requirements:

Previous solar industry experience and proven OpenSolar proficiency are mandatory for this position.

Applicants must have:

• Demonstrable experience within the domestic solar PV industry.
• Strong working knowledge of OpenSolar, including the ability to independently amend designs, update equipment specifications and produce accurate customer proposals.
• Good technical understanding of solar PV systems, hybrid inverters, battery storage and associated electrical installation requirements.
• Experience conducting residential solar surveys and identifying potential installation challenges.
• Ability to produce accurate Bills of Materials and maintain detailed CRM records.
• Confidence discussing technical proposals with customers and securing signed agreements.
• A full UK driving licence and access to reliable transport.
• Willingness and ability to travel to customer properties throughout our operating area.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently.
• Excellent communication skills and a professional, customer-focused approach.

Desirable Experience

• Previous experience in solar sales or technical account management.
• Experience selling additional batteries, backup systems, EV chargers and other system upgrades.
• Familiarity with MCS installation requirements and UK solar industry standards.
• Knowledge of DNO requirements, including G98 and G99 applications.
• Experience working with CRM systems and managing projects through to installation.
