The Marine tavern is a brand new venue in Dawlish, claiming a unique position, overlooking the south Devon coast. Marine tavern consists of an upstairs restaurant championing local produce in a modern european dining style and a downstairs pub venue offering live music, sports and classic pub cuisine.

As restaurant/bar staff at marine tavern, you will be the faces our guests remember. You’ll know our menu inside out and recommend your favourites. You'll inject your personality every moment you’re with our guests so that they love to come back time and time again.

Job Overview
We are seeking enthusiastic and professional Bar Staff and Restaurant Staff to join our vibrant team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering exceptional guest service, preparing and serving beverages, and maintaining a welcoming atmosphere. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop your hospitality skills within a lively environment, ensuring guests have a memorable experience. Previous experience in hospitality or restaurant settings is preferred, but full training will be provided for the right candidate.

Responsibilities

  • Serve a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages efficiently and responsibly
  • Take orders from guests and provide recommendations to upsell menu items
  • Ensure all drinks are prepared according to standard recipes and safety guidelines
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the bar area at all times
  • Check identification to verify legal drinking age
  • Handle cash transactions accurately and operate the POS system
  • Assist with food preparation when required, including garnishing drinks or preparing simple snacks
  • Provide excellent guest services by engaging with customers in a friendly and professional manner
  • Follow food safety standards and hygiene regulations diligently
  • Restock bar supplies as needed to ensure smooth operation during shifts

Skills

  • Proven experience in hospitality or restaurant environments is advantageous
  • Strong knowledge of food safety and responsible alcohol service procedures
  • Excellent guest service skills with a friendly demeanour
  • Good organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently
  • Basic maths skills for handling transactions and making change accurately
  • Kitchen or culinary experience is beneficial but not essential
  • Ability to work well under pressure, especially during busy periods
  • Time management skills to ensure prompt service at all times
  • Upselling techniques to enhance sales and maximise revenue
