Full job description

WE ARE UNABLE TO SPONSOR OVERSEAS APPLICANTS SO YOU WILL NEED TO HAVE THE RIGHT TO WORK IN THE UK WITHOUT SPONSORSHIP.

Broadlands Hall School is proud to be rated by Ofsted as Good with Outstanding features.

Job description

We are looking for two Learning Support Assistants who would like to work in our exciting, caring and creative school near Haverhill for young people with developmental delay, autism, anxiety and emotional needs. Suffolk Term Time only.

About Us

Our School caters for boys aged between 9 – 19 years in our purpose-build classrooms and facilities, set in 6 acres.

The School has expanded rapidly due to its popularity and demand for places. It has a lovely atmosphere and it provides for a range of abilities from boys with developmental delay to those studying GCSEs.

The Role

Our young people all receive one-to-one teaching and small-group teaching and the staff are dedicated to supporting every student to reach his potential. This includes preparing them for life, with skills such as preparation of meals, gardening and looking after themselves to taking GCSEs and other appropriate examinations. The School is very well resourced and it is set in beautiful grounds which gives the students opportunities for outdoor learning.

You will be responsible for supporting the teaching and learning of students, working under the guidance of a Lead Teacher, allowing young people to maximise their potential to progress. Our Learning Support Assistants will also have the opportunity to teach individual children when required.

Any previous experience of working with young people with special needs would obviously be an advantage but it is not essential as our current LSAs come from a range of experiences and backgrounds. Absolutely essential are enthusiasm, commitment to pupils, leading by example and being a hard-working and effective member of a teaching team.

The post can be term-time only (Suffolk term dates) or there may be a possibility of full-time work which would include working in one of our Children’s Home during some of the School holidays.

The salary for the post is £25,500 - £37,003 (pro-rata £21,185-£30,741) per annum working term-time only, with additional pay for working in one of our Homes if there are vacancies.

“Broadlands Hall School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. All positions will require an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check (this will be paid for by the School) and registration with the DBS Update Service together with all other relevant recruitment checks including obtaining references. Referees will be asked to assess suitability of candidates to work with vulnerable adults, children or young people and will be verbally verified. Broadlands Hall School’s Safeguarding Policy can be found on our website and candidates will be asked about this as part of the recruitment process.”
