BGEN is one of the UK's largest multidisciplinary design and build contractors with over 100 years of industry experience. We support clients in the Water, Power & Energy, Pharmaceutical, Nuclear and Food and Beverage industries to deliver next generation, value-added engineering solutions.
What you'll be doing?

You'll be he appointed person for lifting operations is responsible for overseeing the safe planning, coordination, and execution of lifting activities on the Hinkley Point C nuclear site. This includes ensuring compliance with relevant health, safety, and regulatory standards, conducting risk assessments, and supervising all lifting operations to prevent accidents and incidents.

You’ll be preparing and reviewing lifting plans, coordinating with lifting teams, and ensuring all operations follow approved method statements, risk assessments, and legal requirements.
You’ll be checking that all lifting equipment is properly inspected and certified, and you’ll be supervising lifting activities to make sure they’re carried out safely by trained and competent personnel.
You’ll be maintaining accurate records, reporting any incidents or unsafe practices, and ensuring full compliance with regulations such as LOLER.
You’ll be providing training and guidance on safe lifting practices, helping maintain competency records, and supporting emergency preparedness by ensuring procedures and rescue plans are in place.
You’ll be identifying improvements in lifting practices and contributing to audits, toolbox talks, and ongoing safety initiatives.

What you'll bring?

    • Do you have a valid Appointed Person for Lifting Operations qualification (e.g., CPCS or an equivalent recognised certification)
    • Do you have an ECITB Level 3 Diploma in Engineering Construction Lifting, Positioning & Installing Structures, Plant & Equipment (RQF) – Rigging?
    • Do you have a CCNSG?
    • Do you have significant experience planning and executing lifting operations, including complex lifts?
    • Do you have a thorough understanding of LOLER 1998 and associated safety standards?
    • Do you have experience producing risk assessments and method statements for lifting operations?
    • Do you have the ability to oversee multiple lifting operations in a high‑risk construction environment?
    • Do you have experience working with cranes, hoists, and other lifting equipment?
    • Do you have experience working on nuclear or large‑scale construction sites such as Hinkley Point C? (desirable)Do you have a First Aid qualification or other relevant safety certifications? (desirable)
