Please check these essentials before applying

  • I can work at least three regular weekdays and both Saturday and Sunday on alternate weekends.
  • I can repeat the same agreed shifts for at least three months.
  • I am willing to carry out the full role, including companionship, home help and personal care after training. Companionship-only roles are not available.

If any statement is not true, please do not apply for this vacancy.

Care work with time to care - and paid travel between clients

Home Instead Welwyn & Hatfield is recruiting kind, dependable local Care Assistants, known within Home Instead as Care Professionals. You will support clients in their own homes and help them remain safe, independent and connected to their community.

Visits are normally at least one hour. Travelling time between consecutive clients is paid at the applicable hourly rate, and business mileage is reimbursed at 30p per mile. If a one-hour visit is followed by five minutes of travel to the next client, one hour and five minutes is paid, plus mileage.

Pay, training and support

  • £13.30 per hour on standard weekdays.
  • £14.30 per hour during evenings and weekends.
  • An additional 25p per hour for qualifying experienced Care Professionals.
  • Approximately 15 hours of paid induction - around £200.
  • Fully funded ongoing training and qualifications.
  • Employee assistance programme, Home Instead discount card and Blue Light Card eligibility.
  • Workplace pension, paid holiday and progression to Senior Care Professional.

What you will do

  • Companionship, conversation and support with community activities.
  • Meal preparation, shopping and household help.
  • Personal care, continence and medication support after training.
  • Delegated clinical care, such as catheter or stoma support, after training and assessment.
  • Previous care experience is welcome but not essential. Reliability, respect, communication and the ability to maintain an agreed work pattern matter most.

To assign the same rota's each week, the role requires stable availability. You must offer at least three regular weekdays and both Saturday+Sunday every other weekend.

  • Evening: 16:00 to 20:45
  • Late Evening: 21:00 to 22:30
