Hours: 15-25 hours per week

Optional admin hours available
Pay: £16–£20 per hour (dependent on experience)
Locations: Consistent school & community venue placements across Shropshire

About the Role

Love Play Active is looking for an enthusiastic, reliable, and engaging Sports Coach to deliver high-quality PE, after-school clubs and community sport sessions to primary-aged children. You will be confident leading sessions for groups of up to 30 children, committed to creating a safe, fun and inclusive environment, and passionate about helping young people develop through sport.

You will work closely with a supportive team of coaches, teachers, and school staff, building strong relationships with partner schools and community venues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver fun, structured and engaging PE lessons, after-school clubs and community sessions.
  • Lead groups of up to 30 children with confidence and clear communication.
  • Maintain excellent behaviour management and safeguarding standards.
  • Build strong, positive relationships with schools, staff, parents and participants.
  • Work collaboratively with the Love Play Active coaching team.
  • Travel between set schools/venues within your allocated region.
  • Option to lead your own Holiday Sports Camp venue during school holidays.
  • Represent Love Play Active professionally at all times.

Requirements

Essential:

  • Enthusiasm, great energy and a passion for working with children.
  • Comfortable leading sessions independently in front of large groups.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
  • Strong reliability — this is the most important quality for the role.

Desirable (Not Essential):

  • Enhanced DBS (we can help you obtain one if needed).
  • Experience delivering PE, sports coaching or youth work.
  • Relevant sport/teaching qualifications (training provided if not).

What We Offer

  • Consistent weekly school and venue placements.
  • Fully funded training and CPD, including sports qualifications.
  • Free mentorship programme for all coaches.
  • Opportunities to progress into:
  • Camp Lead roles during school holiday sports camps.
  • Administrative/office hours, including:
  • School relationship management
  • Lead coach responsibilities
  • Using your own work email
  • Helping onboard new schools and partners
  • A supportive coaching team and growing organisation where your ideas are valued.

Progression & Development

Love Play Active is growing quickly, and there are clear progression pathways for coaches who want more responsibility. From leading venues, supporting other coaches, to helping drive partnerships and school onboarding, you’ll have the chance to shape your own role within the organisation.

Pay: £16.00-£20.00 per hour
