Salary: £29,808 per annum
Hours: Full time 37 hours per week
Location: Active Luton Centres (this is a multi-site role)

Active Luton is a community wellbeing trust offering leisure and sport, health and wellbeing, community outreach, training and education and Luton’s library services. What we’re looking for

We are looking for a passionate Group Exercise Manager to join the team and shape something truly special. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a passion for group fitness to support us and ensure productivity of the Active Luton group exercise programme by developing the class range and service quality of the timetable and also be actively involved in creating and expanding our offering of signature classes, concepts, workshops, launches, and master classes. You’ll be part of a dynamic driven community, united by a commitment to excellence and a passion for delivering an exceptional member experience.

The post holder will be expected to work at multiple sites within the Active Luton estate.

What you’ll be doing

Group Exercise Manager is responsible for the effective management, coordination, and development of the Group Exercise programme across Active Luton. The post holder will ensure the delivery of a consistent, high-quality, customer-focused programme that meets the needs of users and supports business objectives.

Working within agreed budgets and key performance indicators (KPIs), the post holder will lead, support, and coordinate Group Exercise Instructors, ensuring operational excellence, compliance with health and safety standards, and a strong Service Excellence culture. The role requires a proactive, organised, and customer-centred approach, ensuring that customers are at the heart of all decisions and service delivery.

  • Managing and supporting group fitness instructors to deliver high-quality and safe fitness sessions.
  • Coordination and administration of group fitness programmes, launches, masterclasses, and customer retention activities.
  • Monitoring equipment and activity/Studio areas, ensuring they are clean, safe, and well maintained.
  • Engaging with customers, responding to enquiries, and providing feedback to management teams.
  • Contributing to the promotion and visibility of all Active Luton activities and programmes, and be a positive ambassador of the Active Luton brand.

Skills and Experience

  • Experience working in a leisure environment and supporting group fitness
  • Experience in a customer-focused role.
  • Ability to communicate politely and effectively with a wide range of people.
  • Ability to follow established procedures and maintain accurate records.
  • Basic IT skills, including Microsoft Office programmes, email and word processing.
  • Some knowledge of Health & Safety in group fitness.
  • Ability to safely handle and move activity equipment.
  • Strong organisational and planning skills.
  • Experience supervising and the ability to motivate and inspire others.
  • Experience with timetabling
