Job Title: Competition Groom Apprentice

Apprenticeship: Level 3 Senior Equine Groom

Location: Wisborough Green, West Sussex

Salary: £8.00 per hour

Hours: Full-time

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Competition Groom Apprentice to join a highly successful professional eventing yard in West Sussex.

This is not an entry-level riding position. We are looking for someone with good existing equine experience who is a confident and capable rider and wants to develop their skills within a high-calibre competition environment, working with performance horses.

Responsibilities

  • Riding and exercising competition horses
  • Daily horse care, including feeding, grooming and turnout
  • Mucking out and maintaining exceptionally high yard standards
  • Preparing horses for training and competition
  • Plaiting, clipping and general competition preparation
  • Tack cleaning and equipment care
  • Assisting with loading, travelling and competition days
  • Monitoring horses' condition and wellbeing
  • Supporting the wider team with the day-to-day running of the competition yard

Apprenticeship Information

You will complete a Level 3 Senior Equine Groom Apprenticeship, combining practical experience within a professional competition yard with structured training and development.

This opportunity would particularly suit someone who already has a strong foundation with horses and now wants to take their riding, competition grooming and professional yard skills to the next level.
