Staff Nurse - Out Patient Services

About Medical Imaging Partnership

Medical Imaging Partnership Ltd (MIP) provides high-quality diagnostic imaging services, including MRI, CT, X-ray, Ultrasound and DEXA scanning, across NHS and private sector settings throughout the South Coast. We are dedicated to delivering safe, efficient and patient-centred imaging services that meet both clinical and operational excellence standards.

Service Overview

The service operates as a predominantly adult-focused private outpatient department, with a limited and clearly defined paediatric outpatient provision. The post holder contributes to the safe, effective and responsive delivery of outpatient care and supports consultant-led clinics in accordance with professional and regulatory standards.

Professional Registration

- Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) as an Adult Nurse.
- Dual registration (Adult and Children’s Nursing) is acceptable; however, registration as an Adult Nurse is essential for this role. The post holder must maintain active registration and comply with the NMC Code at all times.

Scope of Practice

The post holder will practise in accordance with the NMC Code, RCN guidance on cross-field working, CQC Fundamental Standards and organisational policies and procedures. Practice must remain within the scope of Adult Nurse registration and assessed competence.

Reports To: Clinical Lead – Outpatient Services (Registered Paediatric Nurse)

Adult Care Responsibilities

- Deliver safe, evidence-based nursing care within adult outpatient clinics.
- Undertake adult venepuncture as a core competency of the role.
- Support consultant-led clinics ensuring safe patient flow and preparedness of clinical areas.
- Recognise and escalate patient deterioration appropriately.
- Maintain accurate, contemporaneous clinical documentation.

Paediatric Service Interface

The service includes a defined paediatric outpatient provision led by appropriately registered practitioners. Where the post holder holds dual registration, they may practise within their paediatric registration where authorised and competent. Where the post holder holds Adult Nurse registration only, they will not practise as a Registered Children’s Nurse. Venepuncture for paediatric patients may only be undertaken where paediatric-specific training has been completed, and competency has been formally assessed and documented in accordance with organisational policy.

Governance and Quality Responsibilities

- Participate in clinical governance, audit and risk management processes.
- Maintain compliance with mandatory and statutory training requirements.
- Report incidents and contribute to organisational learning.
- Support readiness for CQC inspection and regulatory review.
- Escalate safeguarding concerns in accordance with statutory guidance.

Operational Responsibilities

- Support other clinical departments where required and within competence.
- Maintain clinical equipment and ensure a safe clinical environment.
- Participate in appraisal, supervision and professional development processes.

Person Specification

Essential

- NMC registration as an Adult Nurse (dual registration acceptable).
- Minimum 2 years’ post-registration experience.
- Competent in adult venepuncture.
- Experience in outpatient or ambulatory care.
- Knowledge of CQC regulatory requirements.

Desirable

- Dual registration (Adult and Children’s Nursing).
- Paediatric venepuncture competency.
- Experience in private healthcare.
- Leadership experience.
