Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled cook to join our culinary team , in a Nursing care facility established for over 30 years. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food preparation and a strong understanding of kitchen operations. As a Cook, you will play a vital role in ensuring that our meals are not only delicious but also adhere to the highest standards of food safety and quality and to modified dietary requirements. This position requires creativity, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook a variety of meals according to established recipes and menus.
  • Assist in the planning and preparation of meal offerings, ensuring they meet dietary requirements and preferences.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, including proper storage of food items.
  • Ensure all food safety regulations are followed, including proper handling, cooking, and storage of food products.
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely meal preparation and service.
  • Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering supplies as needed.
  • Help train new kitchen staff in food preparation techniques and safety practices.
  • Participate in menu development by providing feedback on recipes and meal presentations.
  • Familiarity with diverse food requirements including IDDSI standards

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in food preparation or culinary roles within a restaurant or similar environment is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety standards and practices.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail in meal preparation.
  • A passion for cooking and creativity in developing new dishes.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while also being self-motivated.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends as required.
