  • Ensure safe and compliant laboratory practice in line with Health & Safety regulations.
  • Prepare and manage reagents according to laboratory and manufacturer requirements
  • Support continuous quality improvement initiatives within the TDM unit

Professional Requirements

  • HCPC registration as a Clinical Scientist or Biomedical Scientist
  • Demonstrable experience in LC‑MS, including method development and troubleshooting
  • Background in analytical chemistry, pharmacology, or therapeutic drug monitoring.
  • Experience working within an ISO 15189‑accredited clinical laboratory
  • Strong data interpretation and scientific reporting skills
  • Commitment to CPD and maintaining professional standards
  • Understanding of GDPR, data protection, and confidentiality requirements

Leadership & Team Contribution

  • Provide day‑to‑day support and oversight to the laboratory team
  • Ensure staff work to high standards, follow procedures, and maintain competency
  • Support team development, training, and CPD activities

Responsibilities

  • Conduct and oversee clinical laboratory tests with precision and adherence to established protocols
  • Assist in phlebotomy procedures, ensuring patient comfort and sample integrity.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of all laboratory activities, results, and patient information
  • Prepare and process specimens using aseptic techniques to prevent contamination.
  • Support catheterisation procedures and other invasive sampling techniques as required
  • Apply knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology to interpret test results accurately
  • Ensure all laboratory equipment is properly maintained, calibrated, and cleaned according to safety standards
  • Adhere strictly to infection control policies, including aseptic techniques and sterile procedures
  • Assist with training junior staff or interns in laboratory procedures and safety protocols
  • Participate in quality assurance programmes to uphold high standards of laboratory accuracy and safety.
