Full job description

Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) Senior Analyst

About Hartwell

Hartwell Manufacturing is a family-run engineering business with nearly 50 years of experience delivering high-quality acoustic enclosures and heavy steel fabrication projects. From our Ossett headquarters, we support clients in the power, data centre and industrial sectors with engineered solutions built on precision, collaboration and reliability. The culture is hands-on, team-focused and proud of the work we produce.

As part of our continued growth, we are looking to appoint an experienced Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) Senior Analyst to work closely with our Finance Director and senior leadership team.

The Role

This is a commercially focused position with significant exposure across the business. You will support budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting and business partnering activities, while providing the analysis and insight needed to support strategic decision-making and improve overall business performance.

We are specifically looking for someone who understands the dynamics of a manufacturing environment. Previous manufacturing experience is essential for this position.

You will work closely with the Finance Director, business owners, Managing Director and departmental heads, helping them understand performance, identify trends and opportunities, challenge assumptions and make better commercial decisions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Finance Director with annual budgeting and periodic forecasting
  • Produce accurate and timely financial reporting, including variance analysis and performance commentary
  • Develop and maintain financial models to support business planning and strategic initiatives
  • Provide commercial and financial insight to senior management and operational teams
  • Develop and maintain a business scorecard incorporating operational and financial measures
  • Monitor KPIs and identify opportunities to improve business performance
  • Support month-end and year-end reporting processes
  • Partner with department heads to understand key business drivers and challenge assumptions where appropriate
  • Analyse financial trends, risks and opportunities
  • Prepare reports and presentations for senior leadership and other key stakeholders
  • Support investment appraisals, business cases and strategic projects
  • Drive continuous improvement across financial processes, systems and reporting
  • Maintain high standards of data accuracy, integrity and internal control

Essential Experience

To be considered for this position, you must have:

  • Previous experience working within a manufacturing business
  • A recognised accounting qualification such as ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent
  • Previous experience within FP&A, Commercial Finance or Management Accounting
  • Strong financial modelling and analytical capability
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Experience using financial reporting systems
  • Strong commercial awareness and the ability to understand operational as well as financial performance
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • The ability to turn complex financial information into clear, practical business recommendations
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills

Desirable Experience

  • Experience using business intelligence or data visualisation tools such as Power BI or Tableau
  • Experience within a fast-growing or multi-site manufacturing organisation

About You

You will be commercially minded, analytical and comfortable operating beyond traditional finance reporting.

We are looking for someone who can build strong relationships throughout the business while also having the confidence to challenge senior stakeholders when necessary. You should be proactive, organised and genuinely interested in understanding how the operation works and where financial insight can help improve performance.

A continuous improvement mindset and a focus on delivering tangible commercial value will be important.

Salary & Benefits

  • £55,000 – £60,000 salary
  • Permanent position
  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays
  • Auto-enrolment pension scheme
  • On-site parking

If you are a qualified finance professional with strong FP&A or commercial finance experience gained specifically within manufacturing, we would be keen to hear from you.

Pay: £55,000.00-£60,000.00 per year

Benefits:

  • Free parking
  • Health & wellbeing programme
  • On-site gym
  • On-site parking

Work Location: In person
