Origin Fitness – Newtownbreda, Belfast
Part-time | £16–£20 per hour, depending on experience

Help Us Lead a New Kind of Fitness Facility

Origin Gymnastics has recently opened a brand-new gymnastics centre in Newtownbreda, alongside the launch of Origin Fitness and Origin Pilates.

Our concept is simple but unique: while children take part in their gymnastics classes, their parents can train at the same time—although Origin Fitness is open to all members of the public, not just gymnastics parents.

We are now looking for a confident, qualified and highly motivated Fitness Instructor / Strength & Conditioning Coach to help lead and develop this exciting new service.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants more than a standard gym-floor position. You will have the chance to help shape a growing fitness community, deliver high-quality hybrid training sessions and build your own personal-training business within our modern facility.

The Role

The successful candidate will:

  • Deliver engaging, progressive hybrid fitness and strength and conditioning sessions
  • Lead group sessions suitable for a range of fitness levels and abilities
  • Welcome and induct new members into the gym
  • Demonstrate how to use equipment safely and effectively
  • Assess members’ needs and help them establish realistic training goals
  • Provide coaching, encouragement and appropriate exercise progressions
  • Help create a friendly, inclusive and community-focused training environment
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness, organisation and health and safety
  • Build positive relationships with both gymnastics parents and members of the wider public
  • Help Origin develop and grow its new adult fitness offering

Hybrid sessions may include a combination of:

  • Strength training
  • Functional fitness
  • Cardiovascular conditioning
  • Mobility
  • Circuits
  • Individual and team-based challenges

Personal-Training Opportunity

Alongside paid Origin class and induction hours, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to use our modern training space to coach their own personal-training clients during agreed times.

This provides an excellent opportunity to develop an independent client base within a busy, growing facility.

The commercial arrangement and available training times will be agreed with the successful candidate.

Essential Requirements

Applicants must have:

  • A recognised Level 3 Personal Training qualification, or equivalent
  • A recognised fitness instructing, strength and conditioning or related qualification
  • Experience delivering group-based fitness sessions
  • The confidence to lead, motivate and engage people of different abilities
  • A strong understanding of safe exercise technique and programme delivery
  • Excellent communication and customer-service skills
  • A professional, reliable and positive approach
  • Current first-aid and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain it
  • The ability to complete an enhanced AccessNI check

Desirable Experience

It would be beneficial if applicants also have:

  • A degree or recognised qualification in strength and conditioning, sports science or a related discipline
  • Experience programming and delivering hybrid or functional-fitness sessions
  • Experience working with beginners and people returning to exercise
  • Experience completing gym inductions and member assessments
  • Experience developing or retaining a fitness membership
  • An existing personal-training client base
  • Additional qualifications in nutrition, mobility, rehabilitation or group exercise

What We Offer

  • Competitive pay of £16–£20 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience
  • Regular paid class and member-induction hours
  • The opportunity to train your own PT clients within our modern facility
  • Scope to help shape and grow a completely new fitness service
  • A ready-made audience of parents attending our gymnastics programme
  • A supportive role within a thriving and ambitious local company
  • Opportunities for additional hours and progression as membership grows
  • Free gymnastics classes for the successful candidate’s children, where applicable

About You

We are looking for someone who is energetic, knowledgeable and naturally good with people.

You should be equally comfortable coaching a complete beginner, leading an energetic group workout and supporting an experienced member with their strength training.

Most importantly, you will care about creating an environment where people feel welcomed, supported and excited to return each week.

Working Hours

This is initially a part-time position. The role will include scheduled afternoon, evening and weekend sessions, with the potential for additional hours as Origin Fitness grows.

Exact hours will be discussed during the interview process.
