Full job description

Job Title: Behaviour Therapist

Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialized behavioral therapy to children with special needs, focusing on behavior modification and skill development.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to assess and develop individualized treatment plans.
  • Conduct thorough behavioral assessments to identify target behaviors and set measurable goals.
  • Implement evidence-based behavior intervention techniques to address challenging behaviors and promote positive change.
  • Design and deliver one-on-one and group therapy sessions tailored to each child's needs.
  • Use data collection methods to track progress and adjust interventions accordingly.
  • Train and guide parents, caregivers, and staff on implementing behavioral strategies in various settings.
  • Foster a supportive and nurturing environment that encourages positive development and growth.
  • Adapt and tailor therapy approaches based on each child's unique strengths and challenges.
  • Collaborate with other therapists, educators, and medical professionals to ensure holistic care.
  • Attend team meetings, case conferences, and professional development sessions.
  • Maintain accurate and organized records of therapy sessions, progress, and adjustments.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest research and advancements in behavioral therapies.
  • Uphold ethical and professional standards in interactions with children and families.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.

Skills & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in psychology, special education, or related field (Master's degree preferred)
- Certification as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) or Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA) is a plus
- Experience working with individuals with ASD in a position of Educational Support Assistant in schools
- Knowledge of applied behavior analysis (ABA) principles and techniques
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to help others
