Full job description

Now Hiring: Learning Support Assistants

(AKA Everyday Heroes in Sensible Shoes)

Looking for a job where no two days are the same, you get thanked (sometimes), and you might occasionally wear glitter? You’re in luck! We’re on the lookout for enthusiastic, down-to-earth people to join our specialist school as Learning Support Assistants — supporting children and young people with autism and complex communication needs.

No Cape Required (But Patience Helps)

Whether you're a seasoned pro or just starting out, if you’re calm under pressure and know how to laugh even when someone puts Play-Doh in your coffee mug, you might be exactly who we’re looking for.

No experience? No problem. We offer paid training, real-world learning, and ongoing development. You bring the empathy and energy — we’ll handle the rest.

What You’ll Be Doing (Other Than Cutting Out 100 Laminated Stars)

  • Supporting small classes of amazing young learners (about 9 students per class)
  • Helping with both classroom learning and exciting community-based activities (yes, we go outside!)
  • Being part of a friendly, supportive team that genuinely cares
  • Developing ninja-level multitasking skills (you’ll be surprised)

Perks of the Job

  • Work-life balance – term-time only, with part-time options available
  • School hours – no night shifts, no weekend chaos (unless you choose that life)
  • On-the-job training – we don’t expect you to know everything on day one
  • Supportive team environment – we’ve got your back
  • Benefits – pension scheme, staff wellbeing programme, discounts, and free parking (because no one likes hunting for a spot at 9am)

What We’re Looking For

  • People who are patient, positive, and unflappable (even when someone insists they’re a dinosaur)
  • Team players – because collaboration makes everything better
  • Flexible thinkers – because every day brings something new
  • A sense of humour and a willingness to get stuck in – yes, sometimes literally

Working hours: Up to 30 hours per week (we’re flexible), roughly 8:30am–3:30pm
Location: A specialist school setting supporting children aged 4–11
Start date: As soon as we find someone great (hopefully you)

If you’re looking for meaningful work, plenty of variety, and a chance to help shape the lives of young people (while occasionally getting glitter in your shoes), we’d love to hear from you.

Apply now – your future team is waiting!

Pay: £104 - £115
