Full job description

Job Title: Production Supervisor

Department: Joinery Production

Reports To: Operations Manager

Responsible For: Bench Joiners, Machinists, CNC Operators, Veneering Department, Assembly-Team, Factory Operatives and Temporary or Agency Staff.

Role Purpose

The Production Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day running of the factory floor, ensuring every project moves safely, efficiently and on time through the manufacturing process.

This is a hands-on role. The Supervisor is expected to work alongside the production team, supervise daily manufacturing activities, organise workflow, solve production issues and ensure all work is completed to the Company's quality standards.

The Supervisor is responsible for maintaining control of production, ensuring every live project remains organised, fully traceable and progresses through each stage of manufacture without unnecessary delay.

The Production Supervisor shall lead by example, maintain high standards of workmanship and professionalism, and promote a positive, organised and productive working environment.

Key Responsibilities

Daily Production

  • Organise and supervise the daily workload across the factory.
  • Allocate work to production staff according to priorities.
  • Ensure production follows the agreed manufacturing programme.
  • Monitor progress throughout the day.
  • Resolve production issues quickly and effectively.
  • Escalate problems that may affect delivery dates.

Production Workflow

  • Maintain continuous workflow throughout the factory.
  • Ensure materials, components and drawings are available before manufacture begins.
  • Prevent unnecessary delays and bottlenecks.
  • Ensure completed work moves promptly to the next manufacturing stage.
  • Maintain an organised and efficient production environment.

Job Cards and Documentation

  • Ensure every live project has a Job Card.
  • Ensure Job Cards remain with the project throughout manufacture.
  • Ensure Job Cards are updated after every production stage.
  • Ensure drawings and supporting documentation remain with each project.
  • Maintain full traceability of every project throughout production.

Quality Control

  • Check work throughout manufacture.
  • Ensure products are manufactured in accordance with approved drawings.
  • Identify defects before work progresses.
  • Reduce rework by maintaining high quality standards.
  • Report quality concerns immediately.

Team Supervision

  • Supervise production staff throughout the working day.
  • Provide guidance and support where required.
  • Ensure work is completed safely and efficiently.
  • Encourage teamwork and accountability.
  • Lead by example at all times.

Communication

  • Communicate daily with the Managing Director and Design Team regarding production progress.
  • Inform Project Management of any delays or issues affecting delivery.
  • Ensure departments communicate effectively when handing work between production stages.
  • Report shortages, defects and manufacturing issues as soon as they arise.

Monday.com

  • Update Monday.com daily.
  • Record production progress accurately.
  • Record delays and reasons.
  • Highlight projects at risk.
  • Ensure the production schedule reflects the actual status of every live project.

Factory Organisation

  • Maintain a clean, safe and organised factory.
  • Ensure products remain in designated locations.
  • Ensure completed work is clearly identified.
  • Maintain good housekeeping throughout all production areas.

Health & Safety

  • Promote safe working practices.
  • Ensure machinery is operated safely.
  • Report hazards immediately.
  • Maintain safe and tidy working areas.
  • Ensure Company Health & Safety procedures are followed.

Requirements

Essential Experience

  • Experience within bespoke joinery, cabinet making or furniture manufacturing.
  • Previous supervisory or team leader experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Good understanding of woodworking machinery and production processes.
  • Ability to read manufacturing drawings.
  • Good organisational skills.
  • Practical approach to problem solving.

  • Deliver work safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards.
  • Promote an organised, clean and professional manufacturing environment.
  • Implement and maintain the Company's Core Performance Standards.

Success in this role will be measured by the quality of production, organisation of the factory, workflow efficiency, communication, on-time delivery and the ability to maintain control of all live projects.

Pay: £52,000.00-£55,000.00 per year
