Residential Care and Support Worker (Residential Accommodation); Due to our legal obligations, we can only accept applications from people 22 years old and above.

Can you help Children and Young People achieve positive outcomes, stability and a sense of wellbeing in a homely environment where they can thrive? We are looking for exceptional residential Support Practitioners to work in a registered children's home. The role will require you to be empathetic and nurturing and have a genuine desire to help children and young people have the best possible experience of care.

We are seeking a compassionate, reliable, and proactive people to join our team in delivering high-quality, person-centred care to young people aged living in our Residential Children's Homes. This role involves working closely with up to two young people in a shared living environment, supporting them to develop the practical, emotional, and social skills to support their wellbeing and to truly thrive in a supportive and caring environment. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about youth development, safeguarding, and making a lasting impact in the lives of young people.

The role will be challenging but highly rewarding. You will receive continued training and professional development with realistic opportunities for career progression. You will always work in teams of 2 and the role does not involve lone working. The role requires sleep in nights and is ideally suited to individuals who wish to pursue a career in Children's social care.

All staff will be enrolled in level 4 or 5 NVQ and will be supported by management to complete their qualifications, in addition to this we offer free gym membership and boxing training at our Sound Mynds hub. Applicants must have a minimum level 3 NVQ in children's social care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day support to young people, promoting independence and helping them develop life skills such as cooking, budgeting, cleaning, self-care, and time management.
  • Build trusting, professional relationships with young people through consistent support and a trauma-informed approach.
  • Offer emotional support to young people who may have experienced adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), family breakdowns, or other vulnerabilities.
  • Encourage and facilitate engagement in education, employment, training, and recreational activities.
  • Promote safeguarding and well-being, maintaining professional boundaries while being responsive to risks and concerns.
  • Support behaviour management, helping young people understand and regulate their emotions and actions in a constructive way.
  • Maintain accurate records, including support plans, risk assessments, daily logs, and incident reports.
  • Work collaboratively with external professionals (e.g. social workers, mental health services, education providers) to ensure holistic support is in place.
  • Ensure the home remains a safe, clean, and welcoming environment at all times.
  • Respond to emergencies and incidents in line with company procedures and apply de-escalation or first aid where necessary.

Typical Rota Pattern

  • 3 week shift rotation of 36 hours per week with overtime available on and adhoc basis.
  • Sleep-in shifts are compensated in addition to base pay
  • Flexibility is essential to cover occasional rota changes or additional support when required
  • Additional waking nights and additional singular day shifts will be available on an adhoc basis.

Requirements

  • Experience working with young people, ideally in a supported housing, residential, or youth work setting.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding, professional boundaries, and confidentiality.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage challenging behaviours calmly and confidently.
  • Flexible and reliable, with the ability to work lone shifts and across evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
  • Basic IT and record-keeping skills.
  • A relevant qualification (e.g. Health and Social Care, Youth Work, or similar) is desirable.
  • A current First Aid certificate is advantageous (or willingness to undertake training).
  • Pref hold a Full UK driving licence.
