Could you change a child's life?

Some careers pay the bills. Others change lives.

Every day, children and young people across the UK need safe, loving homes because, through no fault of their own, they cannot live with their birth families. As a foster parent with SWAP Foster Care, you can provide the stability, care and encouragement that helps a child rebuild their confidence and create a brighter future.

You don't need previous fostering experience. You simply need compassion, patience, a spare bedroom and the desire to make a difference. We'll provide all the training, guidance and support you need every step of the way.

If you're looking for a rewarding career change where every day has purpose, we'd love to hear from you.

-

Why choose SWAP Foster Care?

Unlike many large national organisations, SWAP Foster Care is a genuinely family-run independent fostering agency.

To us, fostering isn't about numbers or targets - it's about people.

When you join SWAP, you become part of our fostering family. You'll know the people supporting you by name, you'll have direct access to experienced local professionals, and you'll never feel like "just another foster parent."

We pride ourselves on building lasting relationships with our foster parents, celebrating successes together and providing the support you need whenever you need it.

Because when you feel supported, the children in your care receive the very best support too.

-

What does fostering involve?

Every child is different, but your role may include:

  • Providing a safe, stable and loving family home.
  • Helping children develop confidence, routines and life skills.
  • Supporting education, health and emotional wellbeing.
  • Encouraging hobbies, interests and positive experiences.
  • Celebrating achievements - big and small.
  • Working alongside social workers, schools and other professionals.
  • Supporting children to maintain safe relationships with their birth families where appropriate.

Some placements last a few days, while others may continue for several years. Whatever the length of the placement, the impact you have can last a lifetime.

-

No experience? No problem.

Many of our most successful foster parents previously worked in completely different careers, including:

  • Teaching
  • Healthcare
  • Retail
  • Hospitality
  • Emergency services
  • Customer service
  • Administration
  • Self-employment
  • Full-time parenting
  • Retirement

We provide comprehensive training from the very beginning, meaning no previous fostering experience is required.

-

Are you eligible?

You may be able to foster if you:

  • Are aged 21 or over.
  • Have one, two or more spare bedrooms.
  • Are a UK resident or have permanent leave to remain in the UK.
  • Can successfully complete an Enhanced DBS check.
  • Have the time, commitment and compassion to care for vulnerable children.

We welcome enquiries from individuals, couples and families from all backgrounds, cultures and communities.

-

What you'll receive

At SWAP Foster Care, you'll never foster alone.

You'll benefit from:

  • Competitive fostering payments of up to £1,500 per week (depending on room availability and placement type).
  • Significant tax relief available to foster carers.
  • Full pre-approval training and ongoing professional development.
  • A dedicated Supervising Social Worker.
  • 24-hour support, 365 days a year.
  • Regular supervision and support visits.
  • Local support groups and foster carer events.
  • Family activity days, trips and celebrations throughout the year.
  • Complimentary Costco/Booker Wholesale membership, giving you access to exclusive savings on groceries, household essentials, children's items, and a wide range of everyday products to help reduce the cost of living.
  • Opportunities to develop your skills and progress as an experienced foster parent.

-

Financial Information

Fostering is a professional role that is financially recognised.

Alongside generous weekly fostering payments, foster parents benefit from one of the UK's most generous tax relief schemes, including:

  • Household tax exemption currently up to £19,360.
  • Additional qualifying tax relief which, depending on your circumstances, can result in tax-efficient earnings of up to £75,660 per year.

Our team will happily explain how fostering payments and tax relief work during your enquiry.

-

Where are we recruiting?

We are currently welcoming enquiries from individuals and families living across the West Midlands through to the South Coast, including the counties, towns and cities throughout this region.

Whether you're based in the West Midlands, the Home Counties, Greater London, the South East or along the South Coast, we'd love to hear from you.

If you're unsure whether we recruit in your area, simply get in touch. Our friendly team will be happy to confirm coverage and answer any questions you may have.

-

Start with a friendly conversation

Choosing to foster is a big decision, and we're here to help - not pressure you.

Whether you're simply curious or ready to begin your fostering journey, we'd love to have an informal, no-obligation chat and answer any questions you may have.

Apply today through Indeed, visit www.swapfostercare.co.uk or call us on 02476 617 774.

Together, we can provide children with the safe, loving homes they deserve.
