Sussex Medical Chambers is a leading provider of independent healthcare and medical services in East and West Sussex. Overview

We are looking to grow our team with an additional DEXA Operator. The purpose of the role is to assist with the tasks and duties of the SMC Osteoporosis services in Brighton and Worthing. The role involves performing DEXA scans as well as general admin and assistance as required for the services provided by SMC to operate optimally. Some weekend work might be required.

Main Responsibilities

  • To work closely with Clinicians and Professionals in the delivery of the DEXA Clinics.
  • To work within the IRMER, and related, guidelines.
  • To work within the associated DEXA local rules in operating the DEXA service.
  • To manage referrals to the DEXA service.
  • To maintain patient comfort within the waiting areas.
  • To scan patients for Osteoporosis using the DEXA scanner and in line with the training provided.
  • To observe and provide support for patients during their scans.
  • To setup and clean down the Scanning Room.
  • Strictly follow infection control guidelines.
  • To seek advice from senior colleagues and clinicians as and when required.
  • To setup the room for scanning – prepare appropriate equipment and materials including PC’s.
  • To ensure accurate stock control and ordering of supplies.
  • To be provide cover for colleagues during periods of leave.
  • To record use of equipment/ materials – batch numbers/ serials numbers if applicable.
  • To record / make notes on scans undertaken as directed by the senior Clinician.
  • To ensure Patient Consent is achieved prior to a scan.
  • To ensure the patient is safe to travel post scan.
  • Ensuring high levels of customer service at all times to Patients, Visitors and Medical Professionals.
  • To assist with the delivery of Services held by SMC and the outside organisations including the CCG, Private Contractors and Independent Providers.
  • Administration related to Patients Referrals, Patient records, Patients reports and typing.
  • To ensure that the services are working in an efficient and safe manner.
  • To assist with the operational resources as required to meet service specifications of contracts.
  • To assist with the monitoring, achievement and reporting of contractual requirements including: Key Performance Indicators; timescales; Outcome reporting.
  • To assist with the monitoring, collecting and analysis of datasets for internal reporting and external reporting.
  • To attend meetings as directed by the Senior Management.
  • To assist with the monitoring and progress of contracts and create reports for the Management Team.
  • Support the Management with their admin requirements as requested.
  • Assisting with all levels of Marketing and Promotion of the Contracts and Services.
  • Strict adherence to all regulation and legislative requirements.
  • Adherence to Data Protection and Information Governance Guidelines.
  • To operate in a manner that ensures the services offered by SMC are working in an efficient and safe manner.
  • To abide by Safeguarding and Whistleblowing Policies.

Qualifications and Experience
