Build Your Engineering Experience This Summer!

Summer Placement Engineer

Chemring Energetics UK (CEUK) is a global business delivering advanced energetic material solutions to defence, civil defence and commercial customers worldwide.

As we continue through an exciting period of growth, we are offering motivated engineering students the opportunity to join us on a Summer Placement within our Commissioning Centre of Excellence (CoE).

Get involved in real commissioning activities from day one, supporting experienced Commissioning Engineers as new facilities, equipment and processes are prepared for safe and successful operation. You'll gain valuable exposure to commissioning in a highly regulated manufacturing environment, developing your technical knowledge while seeing first-hand how commissioning activities contribute to safety, quality and operational performance.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Supporting the preparation of commissioning documentation, including risk assessments and operating instructions
  • Reporting, managing, verifying and closing commissioning defects
  • Supporting ERP activities, including Bills of Materials (BoMs) and Methods of Manufacture (MoMs)
  • Completing commissioning reporting logs and associated documentation
  • Supporting the closure of HAZOP and Process Safety Walk actions
  • Assisting with the setup of 5S tooling boards, PPE storage areas and control rooms
  • Providing on-plant support during commissioning, working alongside experienced Commissioning Engineers

Who This Is For

We're looking for students currently studying towards a degree in:

  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Chemical Engineering
  • Manufacturing Engineering
  • Electrical or Electronic Engineering
  • General Engineering
  • Or a related engineering discipline

Preference will be given to students in their 3rd or 4th year of study who are looking to apply their academic learning within a real engineering environment.

You should be someone who is:

  • Curious and eager to learn
  • Interested in commissioning, manufacturing and process engineering
  • A strong communicator and team player
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office and basic IT systems
  • Proactive with a positive, hands-on approach
  • Committed to working safely in a highly regulated environment
