Company Overview

General Teaching Assistant (TA)

Vara Education is looking for enthusiastic, reliable and compassionate General Teaching Assistants to join our amazing team and support schools across the local area.

Position

Role: General Teaching Assistant
Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm
Contract: long term-term time only

About the Role

As a General Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and school staff to support pupils in their learning and development. You may work across different year groups and support pupils with a range of educational and additional needs.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Supporting teachers with classroom activities and lessons
  • Working with individual pupils or small groups to support learning
  • Helping pupils stay focused, engaged and motivated
  • Supporting children with additional learning needs where required
  • Preparing classroom resources and learning materials
  • Assisting with classroom organisation and general duties
  • Supporting positive behaviour and maintaining a safe learning environment
  • Supervising pupils during break and lunch times
  • Building positive relationships with pupils, teachers and school staff
  • Following school policies and safeguarding procedures

About You

We are looking for candidates who are:

  • Confident working with children and young people
  • Able to communicate effectively with pupils and staff
  • Adaptable and comfortable working in different school environments
  • Passionate about supporting children’s education and development
  • Able to work as part of a team

Previous experience working with children is desirable but not essential, as we welcome applications from candidates with relevant transferable experience and a genuine passion for education.
