Assistant Quantity Surveyor - Liskeard

The Assistant Quantity Surveyor role

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Assistant QS who will be responsible for the measurement and invoicing of work for our clients, you must have previous experience in measuring work using Scheduler of Rates whether this is NHF, RoS or bespoke schedules. You will need to ensure the prompt conversion of works from WIP (works in progress) to invoice, maximising value and margin on your assigned contracts.

Assistant Quantity Surveyor responsibilities

  • Measure and value work for assigned contracts, ensuring margins are within agreed targets and comply with delegated authority parameters.
  • The timely and accurate composition and production of applications, invoices and final accounts - resolving disputes when necessary.
  • Resolving measures works queries and remeasured works with clients and their representatives
  • Liaising with clients both internal and external in relation to your contract.
  • Responsibility for the commercial reporting for the contracts assigned, including forecasting and CVR's where applicable.
  • Preparing, producing and representing all required reports and documents when requested.
  • Effective application of cost control procedures.
  • Supporting the Contract Manager with commercial detail and information as required.
  • Actively participate in monthly WIP review meetings.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Proven main contractor experience working in a commercial role on response & planned maintenance contracts in the social housing sector
  • Knowledge and understanding of measurement and valuation including the use of Schedule of Rates
  • Commercial skills to maximise value recovery and control cost
  • Strong communication and time management skills
  • Excellent IT skills including the use of internal cost systems and particularly advanced in Excel, including VLOOKUP and Pivot Tables as a minimum
  • Experience of managing and improving internal and external customer relationships and conflict handling
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Strong organisational skills with a good attention to detail
  • Proactive and positive, 'can do' attitude
