Strategic Account Management
- Manage and grow a portfolio of key trade and retail customer accounts.
- Develop, own and deliver customer business plans, aligning revenue, margin, service and growth objectives with wider company strategy and commercial goals
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key customer contacts.
- Lead joint business planning activities with key customers, aligning strategic objectives and growth initiatives.
- Act as the main point of contact for your customers, providing excellent service and resolving issues quickly.
- Lead regular customer review meetings to discuss performance and identify opportunities for growth.
- Take ownership of customer demand forecasting and work with Supply Chain and Operations to align capacity, inventory and service requirements.
Sales & Commercial Growth
- Grow sales and achieve agreed sales and profit targets across your customer accounts.
- Identify and develop new sales opportunities within existing and new customer accounts.
- Build business by introducing new products, promotions and growth opportunities.
- Prepare quotations, negotiate pricing and commercial agreements, and support contract renewals.
- Produce accurate sales forecasts to support business planning.
- Monitor sales performance and identify ways to increase sales and improve profitability.
- Maintain a strong pipeline of sales opportunities and ensure these are followed through to completion.
- Work closely with Marketing, Product Development and Operations to support product launches and customer growth.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Work closely with teams across Sales, Operations, Supply Chain, Customer Service and Finance to deliver the best outcomes for customers.
- Build strong working relationships across the business to support excellent customer service.
- Resolve customer issues quickly and work with relevant stakeholders to find effective solutions.
- Share customer feedback, market trends and business opportunities with the wider team.
- Support and coach colleagues when needed, encouraging teamwork and promoting knowledge sharing.
- Provide regular updates to senior management on account performance, sales opportunities, business risks and customer developments.
Travel & Brand Representation
- Travel regularly throughout the UK and ROI to meet customers, visit showrooms and attend trade events.
- Represent the company professionally at all times, promoting our brand, products and values.
- Develop a strong understanding of our products and capabilities to confidently present solutions to customers.
- Act as an ambassador for the business, identifying opportunities to strengthen our market presence.
Reporting & Analysis
- Monitor sales performance, service levels and delivery performance across your accounts.
- Keep accurate customer records and sales activity up to date using EPICOR
- Prepare regular reports on account performance, sales forecasts, customer activity and market trends.
- Use sales and customer data to identify opportunities for growth and continuous improvement
About The Role
- The Senior Account Manager – Trade & Retail is responsible for managing and growing a portfolio of key trade and retail customer accounts. Maximise customer value, strengthen relationships and drive continuous improvement across the accounts portfolio.
- The role focuses on increasing sales, building upon and growing strong long-term customer relationships, as well as identifying new opportunities to grow the business.
- Working closely with Sales, Operations, Supply Chain and Customer Service teams, you will ensure customers receive an excellent service while achieving sales and business targets.
- You will lead commercial discussions, develop account plans and work with customers to deliver successful outcomes for both the customer and the business.

Required Criteria
- Minimum 3 years’ experience managing national DIY retail accounts, including engagement with senior buying, category and supply chain stakeholders.
- Strong commercial awareness with a proven ability to deliver sales growth, improve profitability and identify new business opportunities.
- Proven experience of leading and building strong strategic customer relationships.
- Confident influencing and negotiating with senior stakeholders, both internally and externally.
- Experience of leading, coaching and developing high-performing teams, with responsibility for managing and supporting direct reports.
- Excellent planning, organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical skills with experience of sales forecasting, performance reporting and using data to support business decisions.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and CRM/ERP systems.
- Willingness to travel throughout the UK and ROI.
- Full UK driving licence.
