Full job description

This is an exciting, permanent, and 100% remote working role based in the United Kingdom, supporting a UK-based practice.

We are a prize-winning, rapidly growing, professional services firm looking for an experienced individual who shares our values and is excited to be a part of our growth story.

Set free from a constricting office environment, you’ll enjoy our flexible approach to working at a firm where evening and weekend working is actively discouraged. Being home based, you can also leave the daily commute behind.

About Elemental

Elemental is a market leading independent professional services firm. We pride ourselves on delivering corporate, legal and tax & accountancy advisory services to the highest standard with a human touch. We carry out premium work that exceeds the expectations for a firm of our size.

We are growing quickly and have a portfolio of exciting clients. We have been listed in the FT’s 1000 Fastest Growing Companies in Europe list in 2024 and 2025. In 2025, we were the fastest growing company in our sector!

We are also recognised by ‘Escape the City’ as a Top 1% Employer; certification that spotlights forward-thinking organisations that lead the way with people-first workplaces.

Elemental is a part of Cogency Global, a leading international provider of corporate compliance and transactional legal support services. For our people, that means everything you'd expect from a high-performing specialist team, combined with the global reach, investment and opportunities of a larger parent company.

About the Role

You will be working as a Senior Associate (equivalent to a Senior or Assistant Manager in most Accountancy firms) within our Tax and Accounting team, reporting to Associate Directors and Managers, with opportunities to work directly with the Director.

This is a full-time role, however candidates seeking a 4-day working week will also be considered.

This is a tax advisory and compliance role and is a mixed tax role (predominantly corporation tax and VAT, but knowledge of income tax and employment taxes would be useful). You will be vital in supporting our strong and diverse client base, including subsidiaries of large overseas groups, SPVs and holding companies, third-sector organisations, and private trading companies.

You will take ownership of a portfolio of clients, with a particular focus supporting our Director and Associate Director in delivering complex and varied tax advice to our clients. You will also support the wider tax and accounting department in reviewing computations and returns and preparing more complex submissions.

We encourage inquisitive minds and a desire to help our clients to make process improvements. Questions and suggestions are always welcome.

The role includes the following:

  • Supporting Associate Directors by writing tax advice papers, covering a variety of topics such as group structuring for our clients
  • Managing a portfolio of clients, acting as a key point of contact and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships
  • Preparing and reviewing corporation tax returns, VAT returns, and personal tax returns
  • Assisting with the preparation and review of R&D tax claims, as well as exposure to areas such as EIS/SEIS and other specialist tax projects
  • Reviewing VAT submissions with minimal supervision
  • If time and experience allow, preparing annual accounts and management accounts for a varied client base. Training will be provided if required
  • Building strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring deadlines and expectations are effectively managed
  • Acting as a mentor to junior team members, supporting their development and reviewing their work where appropriate
  • Becoming confident in the firm’s core systems (including Xero, IRIS and Dext) and supporting wider team adoption
  • Supporting the leadership in developing the businesses tax function (winning work, quality controls, marketing activity etc)

The Tax and Accounting department currently consists of one Director, two Associate Directors, one Senior Manager, and a growing team of Managers, Senior Associates and Associates, alongside a dedicated support function. You will benefit from strong mentoring, exposure to varied technical work, and the opportunity to deepen your tax expertise.

About You

You will have a strong background of working in tax. Experience of VAT and corporation tax are essential. You will have the ability to manage your time effectively and build trusted relationships with clients and colleagues.

You will have the following attributes:

  • U.K. Resident
  • CTA qualification
  • 3+ years’ total experience, including at least 2 years post-qualified experience
  • Proven experience managing a portfolio of clients
  • Strong experience across corporation tax, VAT, and personal tax returns
  • Experience in reviewing tax compliance (VAT and corporation tax)
  • Exposure to providing tax advisory work including experience of writing tax advice papers
  • R&D tax experience (desirable)
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines
  • Confident stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong client relationships
  • Excellent technical knowledge of UK tax legislation
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Experience with IRIS, Dext and Xero (desirable)
  • A commitment to upholding company values: doing the right thing, attention to detail, building relationships, and embracing differences

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary (£45,000-£55,000 depending on experience)
  • Eligibility for a significant bonus and commission scheme
  • Comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance and a generous pension scheme
  • A clear and structured career progression pathway, with genuine opportunities to advance within the firm
  • A supportive, collaborative environment with a strong focus on continuous development
  • Fully remote working, enabling a strong work-life balance with no expectation of evening or weekend work

Additional Information

  • Location: United Kingdom (required)
  • Work Location: Remote
  • Working Pattern: Full-time or 4 days per week considered

All applications will be carefully reviewed. Successful candidates will be contacted via email to arrange an MS Teams interview.
