Parkview Academy, part of ALP Schools, is a specialist provision supporting young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including social, emotional and behavioural needs. We provide a structured, nurturing and aspirational environment where learners are supported to re-engage with education and achieve both academically and personally.

The Role

We are seeking a dedicated and resilient Post 16 Teacher to join our team. You will work with small groups of learners, delivering a personalised and engaging curriculum tailored to individual needs.

You will support learners with SEND and challenging behaviour, helping them develop academic skills, independence and confidence as they prepare for further education, employment or training.

This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher passionate about inclusive education and making a meaningful impact at a crucial stage in a young person’s journey.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver high-quality, engaging lessons aligned with the Post 16 curriculum
  • Develop and adapt schemes of work to meet individual learner needs
  • Differentiate teaching to support SEND and additional needs
  • Teach across a range of subjects including Functional Skills, vocational and alternative pathways
  • Create a positive, safe and structured learning environment
  • Monitor progress, maintain accurate records and contribute to assessments
  • Prepare learners for accreditation and examinations
  • Work closely with LSAs, Tutors and senior staff to support outcomes
  • Implement consistent and positive behaviour strategies
  • Build strong relationships with learners, families and external professionals
  • Contribute to team planning and whole-school development

Person SpecificationEssential:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or working towards QTS / QTLS
  • Experience working with young people, ideally within SEND or alternative provision
  • Strong understanding of inclusive teaching and behaviour support strategies
  • Ability to engage and motivate learners who may be disengaged from education
  • Excellent communication, organisation and teamwork skills
  • Commitment to safeguarding and child protection

Desirable:

  • Experience teaching Post 16 learners
  • Knowledge of Functional Skills, vocational qualifications or alternative provision pathways
  • Experience supporting or leading support staff
  • Additional SEND or behaviour-related qualifications
