IWS Online School is looking for a passionate and academically strong English & Humanities Teacher to join our team for the 2026/27 academic year.
We are looking for a strong English and Humanities teacher who can confidently teach English and History across Secondary through to A Level. The ability to support additional Humanities subjects would be an advantage.
The successful candidate may teach IWS students as well as students within our partner schools.
The Role
You will:
- Teach English across Secondary through to A Level according to timetable requirements.
- Teach History across Secondary through to A Level, and support other Humanities subjects where relevant.
- Deliver engaging, well-structured lessons aligned with the curriculum and students' learning needs.
- Develop students' reading, writing, comprehension, analysis, critical thinking and subject knowledge.
- Plan engaging and structured online lessons.
- Assess student work and provide clear, timely feedback.
- Monitor and record student progress.
- Contribute to reports, academic reviews and relevant school responsibilities.
- Work collaboratively with the wider IWS academic team.
- Support partner-school teaching where required.
What We Are Looking For
You should:
Demonstrate exceptional written and spoken English, with professional-level fluency and accuracy appropriate for teaching English as an academic subject.
Have strong academic subject knowledge in English.
Have strong subject knowledge in English and History/Humanities across Secondary level, with the confidence to support teaching through to A Level.
Be confident teaching English and History across Secondary level, with the ability to teach through to A Level.
Be able to plan and teach independently.
Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Be confident using technology and delivering lessons online.
Be organised, reliable and committed to high academic standards.
Newly Qualified Teachers Welcome

Previous full-time teaching experience is not essential where the applicant demonstrates:
Strong subject knowledge in English and History/Humanities.
Confidence teaching across Secondary level, with the potential to support teaching through to A Level.
Strong communication and lesson-planning ability.
Readiness to take responsibility for student progress.
Desirable
- Experience teaching English and History/Humanities across Secondary level; A Level teaching experience would be an advantage but is not essential.
- Experience supporting students across different ages, abilities and curriculum stages.
- Online or blended teaching experience.
- Ability to teach History is essential; the ability to support additional Humanities subjects and international students is advantageous.
Start Date: 1st September 2026
September 2026. The new term begins on 14 September 2026.
