Full job description

Apprentice Teaching Assistant - Greystoke Primary School

Greystoke Primary School is a small, welcoming primary school. We’re looking for an Apprentice Teaching Assistant to join the experienced and friendly team. This Level 3 Teaching Assistant apprenticeship will involve supporting pupils across Key Stage 2 (Years 3–6), making it ideal for someone who enjoys being hands-on, adaptable, and ready to support a lively group of learners.

As a small village school, there are also lots of opportunities to get involved in outdoor learning and activities, making this a varied and rewarding role for someone who enjoys an active approach to learning.
The school offers a warm and supportive environment where you can develop your confidence, practical skills and experience while working towards a career in education.

General Duties Include

  • Supporting the class teacher with learning activities
  • Building positive relationships with pupils and encouraging engagement
  • Providing tailored support to children with SEN
  • Helping to create a calm, inclusive classroom environment
  • Assisting with small-group or one-to-one work when required
  • Preparing resources and supporting the smooth running of lessons
  • Promoting the school’s values and contributing to the wider life of the school

Training & Qualification Details

This apprenticeship is expected to last around 15 months. You will attend live tutor led sessions 2 days every month (1 day every other week which will be via Zoom) and participate in online interactive learning via our bespoke platform OLLIE. Your Tutor will also visit you in the workplace for 1-2-1 Tutor sessions during the programme.

Entry requirements

You will need to have achieved a GCSE grade 4/C (or equivalent) in Maths and English by the end this programme, therefore if you do not already hold a grade 4 in these subjects, you will be required to carry out a short Maths and English Assessment to see if we are able to offer you Functional skills support to reach a Level 2 (grade C/4 equivalent) by the end of the programme.

Apprenticeships are open to everyone of all ages, so perhaps you have just left school and would like to get straight into work? Maybe you are a working parent looking for a change? Or perhaps you are looking for a career break and want to retrain and start something totally new! All applications are welcome.
