Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to support our educational team to work under the direct instruction of the SENCO, teaching/senior staff in the classroom with the teacher, to support access to learning for pupil(s). Work may be carried out in the classroom or outside the main teaching area, remaining under the direct guidance of the teacher.

Although the individual is employed principally to undertake the above key role they may be expected to undertake other duties as required commensurate with the post.

KEY RESULT AREAS

To be determined by the school. Work must be carried out efficiently and effectively at the pupils level, and record keeping maintained and completed appropriately.

DETAILED TASK PROFILE

Attend to the pupils needs and implement related personal programmes, including social health physical, hygiene, first aid and welfare matters.

Supervise and provide particular support for pupil(s) ensuring their safety and access to learning.

Implementation of Individual Education/Behaviour Plan and Personal Care Programmes as directed by the SENCO/Teacher.

Establish constructive relationships with pupils and interact with them according to individual needs.

Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils.

Encourage pupil(s) to interact with others and engage in activities led by the teacher.

Promote self-esteem and independence.

Provide feedback to pupil(s) in relation to progress and achievement under guidance of the teacher.

Support for the Teacher

Use strategies in liaison with the teacher to support pupil(s) to achieve learning goals.

Monitor pupil(s) responses to learning activities and accurately record achievement/progress as directed.

Provide detailed and regular feedback to Teachers on pupils, achievements, progress, problems etc.

Promote good pupil behaviour, dealing promptly with conflict and incidents in line with established policy and encourage pupils to take responsibility for their own behaviour.
