Full job description

James Ray Recruitment are currently seeking compassionate, adaptable, and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to work at an established school in the Grimsby area. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys variety and is passionate about supporting young people with special educational needs.

This role is to commence in September at the start of the new academic year.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils with a range of additional needs, including autism spectrum disorder (ASD), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and non-verbal communication difficulties.
  • Support the class teacher in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons.
  • Assist with implementing Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
  • Use a range of strategies to support positive behaviour and emotional regulation.
  • Promote independence and confidence in learning and social interactions.

Requirements

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN, particularly ASD, SEMH, and/or non-verbal pupils.
  • A caring, patient and resilient approach to supporting students.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Flexibility to work across different schools and settings.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, CACHE, or equivalent) are desirable but not essential.
