Company Description

We’re Together. For over 50 years, we’ve helped thousands of people, businesses and professionals unlock their property ambitions with our common-sense approach to mortgages and secured loans.

We take the time to understand our customers and our door is always open, so we can often help when other lenders can’t or won’t. Based in Cheadle, Cheshire, our 900 colleagues help our customers throughout the UK, backed by the power of a £7 billion loan book.

Job Description

As a Data Governance Specialist, we are looking for someone to work within our highly skilled Data & BI Team with responsibility for ensuring that data-related changes across the organisation are designed, implemented, and governed effectively. This is a very exciting time of change for Together as we go through a tech transformation.

This role will provide technical stewardship through this period over core applications, databases and metadata, ensuring that data is well-defined, structured, and aligned with governance standards. You will essentially act as a key enabler for data quality, literacy, and accountability across business and technology teams. Ideal for a data modeller or data architect looking to move into a broader, business‑facing data governance role.

You’ll combine hands‑on data modelling experience with strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills. As such this role offers the opportunity to get involved with projects and support the business as the entire business moves to new systems and ways of working.

Qualifications

It would be wonderful if you had experience working with Data Bricks and more specifically, Unity Catalogue, but this is not essential providing you have used other similar systems. It is, however, essential that you can act as an effective conduit between the business and the technical teams with clear and capable stakeholder management skills and ability to translate requirements to i.e. Data Engineers etc.

Candidates who can show a good blend of the following (other) key skills and experience will be of particularly interest:

  • Experience in Data Architecture and Data Modelling would be highly advantageous
  • Strong experience in data stewardship and data governance would also be desirable
  • Proficient in relational database design, SQL, metadata management
  • Strong experience in data stewardship, data governance, or data architecture roles
  • Proficient in relational database design, SQL, metadata management and data modelling
  • Skilled in conducting Data Impact Assessments and supporting change initiatives
  • Familiar with data modelling techniques and tools (e.g., SAP Power Designer)
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience with data governance tools (e.g. Unity Catalogue)
  • Ability to translate technical data concepts into business-relevant language
  • Significant knowledge of the Data Management Association (DAMA) framework, in-particular the development and application of Data Governance and Data Quality
  • Knowledge of Data Profiling, Data Definitions/Data Catalogue Management, DQ Issue Management, root cause analysis and reference data management
  • Excellent SQL & Data Literacy skills, able to work with less data literate customers to achieve required outcomes
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills at all levels, with strong written and oral communication skills

If you feel you have some of the skills mentioned above, but not all, please do still apply and we would be happy to have a further discussion with you in regards to your suitability for the role.
