What you would do

Typical responsibilities could include:

• Designing and documenting architectural patterns for microservices and API-driven systems
• Working with engineering teams to evaluate technology choices and define technical standards
• Leading the adoption of cloud-native and distributed system practices
• Mentoring technical leads and supporting capability development across teams
• Collaborating with stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions
• Reviewing and refining existing architectures to improve performance, resilience and maintainability
• Supporting the definition of technical roadmaps and architectural governance

What you could bring

Most roles of this type require the following:

Must-have

• 5+ years' experience in systems architecture, with strong expertise in APIs and microservices design
• Demonstrated ability to lead architectural decisions in complex, distributed environments
• Proficiency with cloud platforms (AWS preferred; AWS Solutions Architect Professional certification valued)
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience
• Strong communication skills; ability to articulate technical direction to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Nice-to-have

• Master's degree in Computer Science or related field
• AWS Solutions Architect Professional or equivalent enterprise architecture certification
• Experience with containerisation, orchestration and infrastructure-as-code practices
• Track record of leading architectural transformation or technology migration programmes
