Multi Skilled Engineer Air con / Electrical

Location: Greater Manchester

Hours of work: 41.25

Contract Type: Permanent

The Multi-Skilled Engineer will be responsible for carrying out all planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive works within a highly technical environment.

This role requires an individual who can work independently, demonstrating initiative and expertise across a range of electrical and HVAC systems.

A strong understanding of engineering best practices and compliance is essential to maintaining operational efficiency and reliability.

Job Description

Operating within a critical environment in the telecommunications sector, the engineer will play a key role in asset management, ensuring all systems function optimally to support the client’s essential operations.

The emphasis will be on delivering engineering excellence, ensuring all maintenance activities are carried out to the highest standards, and responding effectively to any issues that arise.

In addition to technical expertise, the role demands strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure while adhering to health and safety regulations.

The successful candidate will be instrumental in ensuring the seamless operation of critical systems, contributing to the overall success of the client’s infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensuring compliance with H&S regulations, Risk Assessment, F-Gas, Low Voltage Safe Systems of Work, COSHH
  • Undertaking PPM, proactive, and reactive works within relevant SLAs
  • Completing tasks to exceed customer expectations
  • Primary focus on air conditioning with first-line reactive maintenance for electrical and switchgear issues
  • Providing minimum 1 in 4 out-of-hours callout response as per rota
  • Carrying out occasional planned night work as per PPM schedule
  • Undertaking contractor control duties, including monitoring workmanship and issuing Permits to Work
  • Ensuring equipment operates to specified performance criteria and meets agreed company standards
  • Providing a professional service that ensures customer satisfaction
  • Evaluating performance and ensuring proper servicing and maintenance of equipment under contract
  • Taking a proactive approach to client liaison and addressing concerns or escalating to management

Professional and Personal Competencies/Qualifications

  • City and Guilds 2079 Safe Handling of Refrigerants or CITB J11 Equivalent
  • NVQ 2/3 or City & Guilds in Commercial Refrigeration and AC Systems
  • Qualified Electrician (Desirable)
  • 18th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations (BS:7671:2008)
  • Recognised apprenticeship in air conditioning
  • Excellent understanding of Electrical fundamentals and LV distribution
