About the Company

The hiring business is the UK’s largest privately owned supplier of on-vehicle technology systems, supporting the public transport and emergency services sectors for over 20 years. They provide innovative vehicle CCTV, telematics, and fleet management solutions to bus and coach operators across the UK. Their products are designed to improve safety, efficiency, and operational performance for fleets of all sizes.

About the Role

We're looking for a hands-on, customer-focused Hardware Engineer to become the technical expert our customers and field teams rely on. You'll own the resolution of complex hardware issues, support customers through onboarding and fault diagnosis, and ensure our field engineers have the knowledge to get things right first time. The role requires you to develop deep expertise across the hardware and software products we offer, becoming the go-to authority for all technical matters.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage support tickets from initial query through to resolution.
  • Provide technical support via phone, email, and remote diagnostics.
  • Assist with fault finding, configuration, and general product enquiries.
  • Support field engineers with technical guidance when required.
  • Help create and maintain technical documentation and troubleshooting guides.
  • Assist with customer onboarding and product training.
  • Escalate more complex technical issues where necessary.
  • Carry out basic hardware testing and fault replication.

What We’re Looking For

  • A degree in a relevant technical subject (e.g. Electronics, IT, Networking, Telecommunications) or equivalent practical experience.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a logical approach to troubleshooting.
  • Confident and professional telephone manner.
  • Good written communication skills.
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office and learning new systems.
  • Organised and able to manage multiple tasks.
  • A genuine interest in technology and hardware systems.

Desirable (Not Essential)

  • Exposure to IP CCTV, networking equipment, routers, or telematics hardware.
  • Experience using helpdesk or ticketing systems.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join an established and growing technology business where you can develop your skills and build a long-term career.
