We are looking for passionate professionals who are eager to innovate and push the boundaries of what's possible. If you are ready to be part of a transformative journey, come and join us.

In CIS, we deliver Rail Infrastructure systems for customers across the UK and internationally. Our portfolio includes the provision of event driven control and monitoring solutions tailored for Centralised SCADA & Line-wide systems, Stations & Utilities, Power SCADA, Control Systems, Tunnel Ventilation, M&E, and many more. We undertake the full engineering delivery life cycle across various projects.

Siemens Mobility Limited is looking for a Telecoms Test and Commissioning Engineer to join our Customer Information Systems (CIS) business within Rail Infrastructure. Reporting to the Test and Commissioning Manager, you will support the planning, preparation and delivery of testing and commissioning activities for rail telecommunications and operational network systems. From factory acceptance and system integration through to site acceptance, commissioning, entry into service and final handover. The successful candidate will help to ensure systems are delivered safely and in line with approved designs, project test strategies, relevant standards and customer requirements.

The role offers the opportunity to work across a range of UK rail projects. You must be willing to travel nationally and work on-site, including nights, weekends and bank holidays when required to support project delivery.

This role is classified as safety critical and is subject to a pre-employment medical assessment, which must be successfully completed prior to start.

You’ll make a difference by

  • Planning, preparing and undertaking Factory Acceptance Testing, integration testing, Site Acceptance Testing, commissioning and entry-into-service activities for rail telecoms and operational network systems.
  • Delivering assigned T&C activities safely and in accordance with approved designs, project test strategies, test plans, standards, procedures and customer requirements.
  • Reviewing relevant designs, configurations, method statements and test documentation to confirm that they are suitable, testable and aligned with the intended system requirements.
  • Undertaking test-readiness reviews to confirm that approved information, completed installation records, access arrangements, resources, calibrated test equipment and required dependencies are available before testing begins.
  • Configuring equipment and systems where authorised and verify that installed configurations match the approved design and controlled baseline.
  • Maintaining effective working relationships with project, design, installation, technical assurance, suppliers, customers and other delivery teams.

Your role profile may vary from time to time in accordance with business needs. Your annual objective setting with your line manager will outline any additional responsibilities required to meet business or individual development needs for the forthcoming financial year.

What you’ll need to succeed

  • HNC/HND, apprenticeship or equivalent qualification and experience in telecommunications, networking, electronics, electrical engineering or a related discipline.
  • Practical experience in testing, commissioning, integration, installation assurance or fault-finding within rail telecoms, operational networks or a similar controlled environment.
  • Understanding of the engineering lifecycle, including design, installation, testing, commissioning, assurance, acceptance and handover.
  • Technical knowledge of relevant systems such as IP/Ethernet networks, fibre optics, CCTV, public address, customer information systems, telephony or radio.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, network diagrams and test documentation, use relevant test equipment, analyse results and maintain accurate technical records.
  • Strong safety awareness, communication and organisational skills, with a full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel nationwide and work nights, weekends and bank holidays as required.
