About the Role

We are seeking a hardworking and reliable Band 2 Catering Assistant to join our dedicated catering team at Daisy Hill Hospital on a 3-month temporary contract. In this role, you will assist in preparing and serving food for patients, staff, and visitors, while ensuring high standards of hygiene and customer service across the hospital.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with basic food preparation, plating meals, and serving food in ward areas and dining retail spaces.
  • Maintain clean, hygienic work environments by following kitchen cleaning schedules and wash-up routines.
  • Help load, transport, and unload food trolleys for patient ward service.
  • Adhere strictly to Food Safety guidelines, hygiene standards, and allergen awareness rules.
  • Deliver friendly, helpful service to patients, hospital staff, and visitors.

About You

  • Experience: Previous experience working in a catering, kitchen, customer service, or healthcare environment is essential.
  • Skills: Strong teamwork, good communication skills, and a positive, hardworking attitude.
  • Flexibility: Able to work 32.5 hours per week on a shift rota (7:30 AM – 2:00 PM or 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM) and start on short notice for a 3-month temporary post.
