Live-in Chef (Full Time)

Very competitive wage - £140 per day (Pro-rata £46,000 per year based on average days worked)

Live on site in provided accommodation.

12 days on, 2 days off normal working pattern (*can sometimes vary due to weather*)

Travelling expenses for one trip to and from site every two weeks included on top of wage

Temporary Position - Asap start date. End Date: Approx. September

About the opportunity

Luctonians is a thriving multi sports community club and charity, which aims to provide all levels of sporting and recreational activity to the local area. To assist in funding the provision of sport, the club require a strong commercial arm, which includes generating revenues via events, functions, sponsorship and external catering. Luctonians are looking for a chef to operate a kitchen in Romsey, providing three meals a day to a road surfacing force. In this role you will be in charge of all food production for the workers on site, as well as all kitchen upkeep, cleaning and washing down.

This role is a live-in position on the site, with free accommodation provided for the duration of the role.

The main responsibilities for the Chef will be to:

  • Produce and serve up breakfast, lunch and dinner for road surfacing crew (approximately 15-30 workers) every day they are on site. Breakfast and dinner eaten on site – lunch provided as ‘packed lunches’ to be consumed on the job.
  • Take charge of all food ordering responsibilities, using Brakes & supermarket online accounts as well as visiting shops as needed, whilst sticking to a pre-set budget.
  • Perform all cleaning and basic food safety/hygiene processes in the kitchen.
  • Help Manage the sites safer food better business for caterer’s pack.
  • Carry out all necessary checks as required by food standards agency.
  • Produce a variety of simple, homely, quality meals, so workers maintain a level of variety with their meals.
  • Produce further meals or snacks for site visitors as requested by site manager.

Essential Personal Qualities & Experience

· Previous experience of running a commercial kitchen and holds or is prepared to obtain a Basic Food Hygiene Certificate.

· Flexible to work unsociable, spread-out, hours: an average day can look like the following:

o Breakfast prep, service and clean down: 5am-8am

o Food ordering/prep time: 8am-9am

o Lunch Prep for next day: 4pm-6pm

o Dinner prep, service and clean down: 6pm-9pm

· Ability to work the five/six-month period without requiring time off for holidays: average working pattern is 12 days on from Monday to Friday of the following week. Leave Friday morning for the weekend and then return to camp Sunday night ready to start again Monday morning.

· Self-starter that is motivated to work without prompting and uses own initiative. You will spend a lot of time preparing food or ordering on your own.

· Punctual, reliable individual who does not let the team down.
