Inchgarth community centre is Aberdeen’s busiest, largest, and most successful centre and due to a massive extension and growth, we are inviting applications for and two exciting roles of weekend centre assistants.

We have a Saturday post of 9am-5pm, a Sunday post 10am-4pm, and a Sunday post for 10am-8.30pm.

We will accept applications from people wanting to do both days, and from those wishing to apply for only one of the posts.

Inchgarth is widely recognised as a centre of excellence, and one of Scotland’s leading community centres.

The role involves working as a small team of staff, with the support of volunteers, to ensure the smooth operation of our building, the safety our users, to be a point of contact, and to adhere to various operational tasks throughout the shift.

Inchgarth is an excellent place to work and has been recognised by the late Her Majesty The Queen with the highest award in the UK.

Hours of employment & rate of pay: Saturday post

  • You will work Saturday 9am to 5pm.
  • The hourly rate is £12.72 per hour.

· Contract length: Permanent.

· Part-time hours: 8 per week

Hours and rate of employment: Sunday post

  • You will work Sunday 10am to 8.30pm.
  • The hourly rate is £12.72 per hour.

· Contract length: Permanent.

· Part-time hours: 10.5 per week

Hours and rate of employment: Sunday post

  • You will work Sunday 10am to 4pm.
  • The hourly rate is £12.72 per hour.

· Contract length: Permanent.

· Part-time hours: 6 per week

Qualities and skills required:

  • The skills & qualities we require is a good work ethic, polite, able to count, attention to details, and to get on well with people of all ages.
  • We expect excellent timekeeping as a key holder.
  • You will be expected to use your initiative.

PVG, FIRST AID, OTHER TRAINING.

· You will be expected to undergo a PVG check, at no cost to you.

· You will be expected to take online manual handling training, at no cost to you.

· You will be expected to attend a first aid at work course, that you will be paid for your time, while the course fees will be covered by Inchgarth.

· You will be given full training for the role.

Facilities & Operations

  • Opening and Closing: Unlocking the building, disarming alarms in the morning, and securing the premises (locking doors, setting alarms, checking windows and doors) at night.
  • Room Setup: Moving chairs, tables, and AV equipment to prepare spaces for weekend hires, community gatherings, or classes.
  • Cleaning Tasks: Ensuring the café, reception, rooms, halls, corridors, and kitchen equipment is clean. To clean the toilets throughout your shift. To clean halls in between groups.
  • Safety & Maintenance Checks: Conducting routine walkabouts to ensure the centre and grounds are hazard-free, clean, and tidy. You will be vigilant to ensure people aren’t in parts of our building where they shouldn’t be.
  • Children’s Birthday Parties: You will set up the bouncy castle and other play equipment, tidy between parties, and put the castle and other pieces of equipment away after the functions.

Customer Service & Administration

  • Front Desk & Reception: Acting as the primary point of contact for visitors. This involves dealing with face-to-face, phone, and email inquiries.
  • Booking Support: Assisting the public with room reservations, providing tours to potential let holders, and processing rental payments.
  • Signposting & Community Engagement: Helping visitors navigate the centre and providing information about centre activities, facilities, and general information.

Event & Activity Delivery

  • Event Facilitation: Setting up refreshments, assisting event organisers, and supervising indoor or outdoor spaces during weekend clubs or private functions.
  • Café Duties: Tasks include serving food and drinks, operating the till, and managing stock levels, filling the dish-washer, stocking up the shelves. To ensure the café is clean during your shift, and afterwards.

Other tasks.

· There are many small tasks that you may be asked to complete, and the centre manager will list any additional aspects or needs as you progress.
