Retail Assistant – Vape Shop Outlet

  • Location: Vape Shop Outlet Cathedral, 4 - 6 Bridge St, Peterborough PE1 1DW

Join a company that does things differently and achieves incredible results while doing so! At Vape Shop Outlet, you'll experience the excitement of being part of a leading retailer specialising in high-quality electronic cigarettes and accessories, with over 30 stores across the UK.

About the Role:

As a Retail Assistant at Vape Shop Outlet, you'll play a vital role in delivering an exceptional customer experience. You’ll be the first point of contact for customers, and your ability to understand their needs will ensure they receive tailored advice, product recommendations, and support throughout their shopping journey. From advising and selling to setting up new products, you'll be there every step of the way.

In addition to assisting customers, you'll contribute to the overall operation of the store by maintaining visual merchandising standards, supporting team members, and staying informed on the latest product releases and trends. Your performance will be measured through individual and team productivity, as well as the overall success of the store.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Customer Engagement: Assist and advise customers on suitable products, ensuring an outstanding customer experience that fosters loyalty and repeat business.
  • Sales Support: Guide customers through the sales process, including product setup and after-sales support.
  • Stock Management: Oversee stock replenishment, including receiving, counting, and displaying products. Monitor stock levels to ensure availability and accurate ordering.
  • Operational Duties: Handle key responsibilities such as cashing up, locking the store, setting alarms, and banking.
  • Visual Merchandising: Ensure the store layout is visually appealing and products are displayed to a high standard.
  • Customer Service Excellence: Resolve customer complaints with professionalism and empathy, always aiming to provide prompt, friendly, and effective solutions.
  • Reporting & Strategy: Work closely with the Store Manager to report on store performance, share ideas to boost sales, and contribute to achieving sales targets.
  • Appearance & Standards: Maintain a professional and polished appearance, ensuring the store is clean, organised, and welcoming at all times.

What We’re Looking For:

  • A genuine passion for helping others and providing exceptional customer service.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to uncover customers’ needs and provide personalised product recommendations.
  • Self-motivated and proactive, with a keen interest in staying updated on new products, industry trends, and company initiatives.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced retail environment, with a hands-on approach to problem-solving.
  • Flexibility to adapt to various responsibilities, from customer interactions to stock management and social media tasks.

Why Join Vape Shop Outlet?

At Vape Shop Outlet, no two days are the same. You’ll thrive in a diverse, energetic environment where your contributions directly impact the success of the store. You'll have the opportunity to learn, grow, and build strong relationships with both customers and your team. Join us and be part of a business that values innovation, creativity, and delivering a unique customer experience.

Key Qualifications:

  • Proven ability to work independently and confidently in environments where lone working is required.
  • Demonstrated success in delivering excellent customer service in a fast-paced, dynamic setting, with a genuine passion for personal interaction.
  • Strong interest in technology with the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new products and features.
  • Exceptional communication skills, allowing you to engage comfortably with both individual customers and small groups.

Additional Requirements:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills — you’re approachable, a good listener, and show empathy toward customer needs.
  • Confident and professional phone manner, able to handle customer queries and calls effectively.
  • Flexibility in scheduling, as working hours are based on business needs. Overtime may be required during peak periods, holidays, or to cover for absences.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Highly organised with strong multitasking abilities.
  • Quick learner with a willingness to continuously develop your knowledge.
  • While an interest in electronic cigarettes is advantageous, it is not essential as full training will be provided.

About the Role:

  • Position: Full-time (30 hours per week, across 5 days, including weekends).
  • Salary: Negotiable depending on experience & age, up to a maximum of £12.71p/h.
  • Training: Comprehensive training is provided internally, with ongoing personal development.
  • Performance Reviews: Regular pay reviews based on performance, every 6 to 12 months.
