Full job description

Chequers Transport (Bedford) Ltd are seeking reliable and professional HGV Drivers to join our growing transport team at the Barking site. The successful candidates will be responsible for the safe and timely delivery of goods to customers while maintaining high standards of customer service and compliance.

· 5 - 6 DAYS ALTERNATE WEEKLY SHIFT PATTERN

Starting times approx 4am

The ideal candidate for this role will have at least 1 years experience as a delivery driver, is able to work in a busy environment and deliver goods to customers with care and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate HGV vehicles in accordance with road traffic laws and company procedures.
  • Complete scheduled deliveries and collections efficiently and on time.
  • Conduct daily vehicle checks and report any defects or maintenance issues.
  • Ensure all paperwork, delivery notes, and digital records are completed accurately.
  • Load and unload vehicles where required, ensuring loads are secure and transported safely.
  • Adhere to drivers' hours regulations, tachograph rules, and health and safety requirements.
  • Maintain a professional and courteous manner when dealing with customers and colleagues.

Requirements:

  • Valid HGV Class 2 (Category C) licence.
  • Current Driver CPC qualification.
  • Digital Tachograph Card.
  • Good knowledge of UK driving regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent time management and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Previous HGV driving experience preferred, although newly qualified drivers may be considered.
