Full job description

This is a hands-on supervisory position, working closely with ownership to ensure day-to-day front of house operations run smoothly and to the standard our guests expect. You'll be the senior presence on the floor, leading by example and making sure your team and your venue are always at their best.

With a current pop-up operation running in our Thatched Barn and a full pub refurbishment underway, this is a genuine opportunity to grow with us — and to shape how The Crown operates from the ground up.

What you'll be responsible for

  • Supervising front of house team members during service, ensuring standards and hospitality are consistently high, whilst creating a great atmosphere for customers
  • Opening and closing the venue, including till/clocking procedure handling and end-of-day reconciliation
  • Stock management — ordering, receiving deliveries, monitoring wastage, and maintaining cellar standards
  • Establishing and maintaining service routines and daily checklists
  • Assisting with staff scheduling and holiday cover planning
  • Training and supporting junior team members
  • Handling customer queries and complaints with confidence and care
  • Acting as duty manager in the absence of senior management
  • Liaising with the kitchen to ensure smooth communication during service

What we're looking for

  • Solid experience in a pub, restaurant, or hospitality environment
  • A natural leader — calm under pressure, fair, and clear
  • Strong knowledge of licensing and EHO responsibilities
  • Experience with stock control and budget management
  • Excellent communication skills with both team and guests
  • Someone who takes genuine pride in their work

What we offer

  • Competitive hourly rate based on experience
  • A genuine opportunity to shape a new venture
  • A beautiful, historic workplace
  • Meals on shift
  • A supportive and ambitious small team
  • Room to grow as the business grows
