Joining Arup
Arup’s purpose, shared values and collaborative approach have set us apart for over 80 years, guiding how we shape a better world.
You will be joining Arup’s Transport Consulting team, working within a collaborative and creative environment that sits at the heart of our transport planning and modelling capability. Our transport planning business operates across the UK and internationally, interacting with multidisciplinary teams and the vibrant global transport modelling community within Arup. Together, we support a wide range of complex and high‑profile transport projects, helping shape sustainable and resilient transport networks.
The Opportunity
We have exciting opportunities for experienced and ambitious Transport Modellers to join our Transport Consulting team. This role offers the chance to work on challenging and high‑profile schemes, applying data, models and innovative methodologies to solve real‑world transport problems.
You will work closely with senior transport modellers and project managers, contributing to projects and bids through the development of strategic transport models, forecasting future conditions, testing mitigation scenarios and undertaking scheme assessment. The role spans the full modelling lifecycle, from data analysis and model development through to reporting, visualisation and client engagement.
You will collaborate with colleagues across disciplines and geographies, with opportunities to support projects elsewhere in the UK and internationally as required. This role is well suited to someone looking to further develop their strategic modelling skills, broaden their technical toolkit and grow their career within a supportive and collaborative team.
At Arup, you belong to an extraordinary collective – in which we encourage individuality to thrive. Our strength comes from how we respect, share and connect our diverse experiences, perspectives and ideas.
You will have the opportunity to do socially useful work that has meaning – to Arup, to your career, to our members and to the clients and communities we serve.
Is this role right for you?
We are keen to hear from transport modellers who enjoy working with data, models and people. You are likely to bring:
-
Experience in transport modelling, across highways, public transport and/or multimodal models
-
Proven experience using either VISUM, SATURN, CUBE or MATSim, including model development, calibration and validation
-
A good understanding of TAG requirements, forecasting and scenario testing
-
Strong skills in data analysis, reporting and technical note writing, with high standards of presentation
-
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work both autonomously and as part of a wider multidisciplinary team
***Unfortunately, we are unable to offer visa sponsorship for this role. Applicants must have the right to work in the UK at the time of application and for the duration of employment. Any offer made will be subject to satisfactory proof of immigration status.***
