Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Kitchen Porter to join our busy culinary team. This vital role supports the smooth operation of our kitchen by maintaining cleanliness and assisting with basic food preparation. The ideal candidate will be organised, hardworking, and eager to develop their skills within a hospitality environment. Previous experience in a restaurant, hotel, or catering setting is advantageous but not essential, as training will be provided. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience in a professional kitchen setting.
Duties
- Washing and sanitising dishes, pots, pans, and kitchen utensils efficiently
- Assisting with food preparation tasks under supervision, including basic chopping and ingredient organisation
- Ensuring the cleanliness of work surfaces, floors, and kitchen equipment throughout shifts
- Supporting the rest of the kitchen team during busy service periods
- Restocking supplies and ensuring all items are stored correctly according to health and safety standards
- Assisting with waste disposal and recycling procedures in line with company policies
- Maintaining high standards of hygiene and safety at all times
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a food service environment such as a restaurant, hotel, or catering setting is desirable but not mandatory
- Basic knowledge of food preparation and kitchen operations is beneficial
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to learn new skills within the hospitality sector
- Good communication skills and a positive attitude towards work
- Flexibility to work shifts as required, including evenings or weekends if necessary
