Full job description

Are you a compassionate and confident nurse who thrives in a fast-paced outpatient environment? Do you take pride in delivering exceptional patient care and want to be part of a highly skilled clinical team within a leading private healthcare setting? If so, we would love to hear from you.

At The Private Clinic Group, based on London’s prestigious Harley Street in the heart of the medical district, we are committed to providing an outstanding patient experience at every stage of the perioperative journey. From pre-assessment through to discharge and aftercare, our outpatient nurses play a vital role in ensuring safety, comfort and clinical excellence.

We are now seeking an experienced Outpatients Nurse to join our team on a full-time, permanent basis (37.5 hours per week), helping us maintain the highest standards of patient care.

Key Responsibilities

As a valued member of the outpatient team, you will:

  • Provide high-quality clinical care from pre-assessment through to post-operative aftercare
  • Work autonomously, managing your own caseload and following up on investigations for more complex patients
  • Take comprehensive patient histories and carry out clinical assessments, including airway and cardiac assessments
  • Perform a range of clinical procedures, including dressings, suture removal, ECGs, swabs and venepuncture (competency in venepuncture is essential)
  • Assist with minor surgical and cosmetic procedures and support efficient patient flow
  • Maintain excellent standards of infection prevention, cleanliness and clinical readiness
  • Communicate effectively and compassionately with patients, relatives and the wider multidisciplinary team
  • Support patient education, ensuring information is clear and accessible
  • Contribute to audit, evidence-based practice and continuous service improvement
  • Ensure patient safety at all times and maintain full compliance with CQC standards
  • Participate in the out-of-hours on-call rota, providing telephone support to patients as part of the aftercare service. This is a shared team commitment across 7 days a week, with an additional allowance paid for participation

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Current NMC registration as a Registered Nurse or qualification as an Operating Department Practitioner
  • Proven experience in perioperative care (this is essential, and applicants without perioperative experience will not be considered)
  • Strong pre-assessment experience
  • Experience in plastic surgery and/or orthopaedics (highly desirable), particularly wound care
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including being comfortable with making and taking patient telephone calls
  • Strong clinical judgement and a holistic approach to patient care
  • Competence in ECGs, venepuncture, and airway and cardiac assessments
  • A professional, patient-focused approach aligned with a premium healthcare service
  • The ability to remain calm, organised and effective in a busy outpatient setting
  • A positive, flexible attitude and commitment to delivering outstanding care
  • Willingness to participate in the out-of-hours rota
  • Previous private healthcare experience (desirable but not essential)

What We Offer

  • Full-time, permanent role (37.5 hours per week)
  • Competitive salary plus additional on-call allowance
  • Royal London pension scheme
  • Generous annual leave
  • Opportunity to work within a highly skilled and supportive clinical team
  • Modern, well-equipped clinical environment in a prestigious Central London location
  • A patient-centred culture where quality and safety are paramount
  • Opportunities for professional development and ongoing training
