Full job description

We are currently recruiting for an Executive Support Officer on a full time, temporary basis from 7 December 2026 to 6 January 2028.

This is an exciting opportunity to work at the heart of the Yorkshire Ambulance Service, providing a comprehensive, high-level, professional and confidential administration service to the Executive Director of Finance.

This role offers a unique opportunity to gain insight into how a large NHS organisation operates at executive level. You will work closely with senior leaders and partners across the wider health and care system, building valuable experience in executive support, corporate governance, stakeholder engagement and service improvement.

We are looking for someone who is highly organised, proactive, professional and confident working in a fast-paced environment. You will also need to be an excellent communicator and team player who can build positive relationships, work collaboratively with colleagues, provide support and cover when required, and contribute to a high-performing Corporate Governance team.

The successful candidate will be open to embracing digital ways of working and have experience in using tools such as Microsoft Copilot and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to improve efficiency, streamline administrative processes and support continuous service improvement.

Provide comprehensive, high-level and confidential executive support to the Director, including the proactive management of complex diaries and inboxes, drafting and proofreading reports, papers and correspondence, and coordinating day-to-day priorities. The post holder will take responsibility for the full administration of meetings, including agenda planning, paper collation, meeting organisation, minute-taking, action tracking, monitoring progress against agreed deadlines, and ensuring actions and outcomes are followed through to completion.

The role will also contribute to the development of more efficient and effective ways of working. In addition, the post holder will provide governance support by covering the administration and minute-taking of Committees and other corporate meetings as required, and will provide resilience and cross-cover arrangements for their designated buddy and wider Corporate Governance team to ensure continuity of service.

Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) NHS Trust geographically covers nearly 6,000 square miles of varied terrain, from isolated moors and dales to urban areas, coastline and inner cities.

We serve a population of over five million people across Yorkshire and the Humber and strive to ensure that patients receive the right response to their care needs as quickly as possible, wherever they live.

We employ more than 7,100 staff, who together with over 1,300 volunteers, enable us to provide a vital 24-hour, seven-days-a-week, emergency and healthcare service.

Our ambition is to be an employer of choice, and we are continuously working across our partnership to improve our collective offer to staff in areas like health and wellbeing, benefits and flexible working incl. hybrid working.

Benefits:
  • Flexible working including part-time hours, job shares and flexible hours, agile working (role dependant)
  • 27 days annual leave, increasing to 33 with service.
  • Contributory Pension.
  • NHS Discounts including shops, restaurants, gyms etc.
  • Car lease and other salary sacrifice schemes.
  • Dedicated employee assistance and counselling service.
  • Opportunities for research participation, career progression and ongoing development.
  • Well respected, committed and supported staff networks for our workforce.
