Commis Chef – Casa Bianca Pontypridd

Location: Pontypridd
Job Type: Full-Time or Part-Time
Package: Up to £35,000 per year for full-time roles

Casa Bianca is looking for Commis Chefs to join the kitchen team at our Pontypridd restaurant.

Whether you're already working in a professional kitchen, have recently finished college, or are at the beginning of your career as a chef, we're interested in finding people with the right attitude who genuinely want to learn.

Experience is useful. Potential matters more.

The Role

As a Commis Chef, you'll work alongside our senior chefs and learn how a professional Casa Bianca kitchen operates.

This is a hands-on role. You'll be cooking, prepping and working alongside the brigade during service while developing the skills you need to progress through the kitchen.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing fresh ingredients and dishes for service.
  • Working across different sections of the kitchen as your experience develops.
  • Cooking and presenting dishes to Casa Bianca standards.
  • Learning our recipes, specifications and kitchen systems.
  • Maintaining a clean, organised and professional section.
  • Following food hygiene, allergen and health & safety procedures.
  • Supporting the wider brigade during busy services.
  • Receiving and storing deliveries correctly.
  • Helping minimise waste and maintain good stock control.
  • Learning directly from our Sous Chefs and Head Chef.

You Don't Need to Know Everything Yet

We're hiring at Commis Chef level, so we're not expecting you to walk through the door knowing how to run a kitchen.

We're looking for people who are:

  • Interested in building a genuine career as a chef.
  • Keen to learn and improve.
  • Reliable and prepared to work hard.
  • Comfortable working as part of a team.
  • Able to stay organised during a busy service.
  • Proud of the food they produce.
  • Willing to listen, take feedback and develop.

Previous professional kitchen experience is welcome, but we'll also consider candidates at the beginning of their careers who can demonstrate the right attitude and commitment.

Full-Time or Part-Time

We're open to both full-time and part-time applications.

That makes this role suitable for experienced junior chefs looking for their next move as well as people studying hospitality or looking to build professional kitchen experience alongside other commitments.

We'll discuss hours and availability with you during the recruitment process.

Progression at Casa Bianca

We don't want good Commis Chefs to remain Commis Chefs forever.

You'll have the opportunity to develop your skills across the kitchen and work towards progression through the brigade:

Commis Chef → Chef de Partie → Sous Chef → Head Chef

As Casa Bianca grows, we want to develop and promote talented chefs from within the business.

What We Offer

For full-time positions, packages are available up to £35,000 per year, depending on experience, hours and performance. Part-time remuneration will be discussed based on contracted hours.

You'll also benefit from:

  • TRONC for qualifying operational hours.
  • Staff food whilst working.
  • Employee discount across Casa Bianca restaurants.
  • Hands-on training from experienced chefs.
  • Opportunities to develop across different kitchen sections.
  • Genuine career progression within the Casa Bianca group.
  • The opportunity to grow with an expanding independent restaurant business.

About Casa Bianca

Casa Bianca is a growing independent Italian restaurant group built around quality food, genuine hospitality and great people.

Our kitchens are an important part of that.

We're looking for people who want to learn their craft, take pride in what they put on the plate and become part of a strong kitchen team.

If you're serious about becoming a better chef, we'd like to hear from you.

Apply through Indeed with your CV. If you're at the beginning of your career and don't have a long CV yet, that's fine—tell us why you want to become a chef and why you'd like to join Casa Bianca.
