Job Summary
Previous experience in a library essential.
A secondary school in Willenhall (WV12) is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Library Assistant to join their team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in supporting library operations and enhancing the user experience. This position requires strong organisational skills, the ability to educate patrons about library resources, and a knack for managing various tasks efficiently. The Library Assistant will also demonstrate leadership qualities to foster a welcoming environment for all students.
The Opportunity:
- Library Assistant / Teaching Assistant
- Ideal for graduates with library experience and with good organisational skills
- Working within a team running the school library
- Full-time role: Monday – Friday
- £500 - £530 per week (term time only)
- Start in September for the 26/27 academic year
Role Responsibilities:
- Opening the library before school, during break and lunch time as well as after school as a quiet place for students to do homework.
- Improve the quality of information held in LibreSoft our library software (training can be provided if needed)
- The general running and maintenance of the library
- Ordering or new books yearly and they will hold a small resource budget
- Leading on whole school literacy related days or national events by running competitions and/or promotional book displays
- Leading reading interventions with students from Y7-Y11 in a range of forms from LexiaPower up to face to face sessions, phonics and listening to pupils read for fluency and confidence. The group sizes could be anywhere from 1-2-1, up to 15 pupils if they are working on independent program's.
Experience:
- Previous experience in a library is essential
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with students aged 11-16.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving with a focus on customer service excellence.
