Job Purpose

We are seeking a professional, discreet, and highly organised Housekeeper to oversee the day-to-day presentation and upkeep of a private household. The successful candidate will take pride in maintaining the home to an exceptional standard, ensuring that all living areas are clean, organised, and presented impeccably at all times.

This role requires a proactive individual with excellent attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and the ability to work independently whilst anticipating the needs of the household.

Key Responsibilities

Housekeeping and Household Presentation

  • Maintain the cleanliness and presentation of the residence to the highest standards.
  • Carry out daily housekeeping duties including dusting, vacuuming, mopping, polishing, and sanitising.
  • Ensure all rooms are tidy, organised, and ready for use at all times.
  • Manage laundry, ironing, and care of delicate garments and household linens.
  • Change bed linen and towels as required.
  • Monitor and maintain household supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels are always available.

Wardrobe Management

  • Organise and maintain wardrobes, dressing rooms, and storage areas.
  • Ensure clothing, footwear, and accessories are cleaned, stored, and presented appropriately.
  • Arrange seasonal wardrobe changes and maintain inventory of garments.
  • Coordinate specialist cleaning, repairs, and alterations when required.

Shopping and Errands

  • Undertake household shopping, including groceries, household supplies, and personal items.
  • Manage shopping lists and ensure supplies are replenished proactively.
  • Run household errands as required.
  • Liaise with suppliers and service providers when necessary.

Gardening and Outdoor Areas

  • Carry out light gardening duties and maintain outdoor spaces to a high standard.
  • Water plants, maintain flower beds, and ensure outdoor areas remain tidy and presentable.
  • Monitor the condition of gardens and outdoor furnishings.
  • Coordinate with external gardeners or contractors where required.

Household Management

  • Report any maintenance issues promptly.
  • Assist with the coordination of tradespeople and household contractors.
  • Ensure the security and confidentiality of the household at all times.
  • Support the smooth day-to-day running of the home and assist with additional duties as reasonably required.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Previous experience working within a private household, luxury hospitality, or similar environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and high standards of housekeeping.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and use initiative.
  • Trustworthy, reliable, and discreet.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.

Desirable

  • Experience in wardrobe management and garment care.
  • Knowledge of luxury fabrics, furnishings, and specialist cleaning requirements.
  • Basic gardening knowledge.
  • Experience working in high-net-worth or private family environments.
